New Audeze "Prototype-Z"!

Fitness levels...these are headphones...and not that heavy either. It's not like a 20lbs weight. I guess I have a hard time understanding such comments.

Yeah, fitness levels. A scrawny office worker or student won't have enough neck and shoulder support to wear heavy headphones comfortably for extended periods of time, the pressure ends up on their vertebrae. With someone a bit more built, the shoulder and neck muscles take care of everything. Pretty straight-forward, to me at least.

Edit: before you retort, I want to re-emphasize that this is all about comfort, not the physical capability of wearing the headphones. There is a big difference.

Before you retort, I suggest you read the post that I responded to...it was about the physical capability of wearing the headphones.

I agree that comfort is very subjective, but that's not what I was referring to.

The guy you were responding you was unable to wear the LCD-Xs?

It was uncomfortable for him, maybe quite a bit, but he was able to wear it. I guess you threw out a hyperbole.

"I can't handle the weight of the LCD-X for more than 10 minutes."

My father is 72, partially paralyzed from a stroke a few years back and loves my LCD-X. Just sayin...plus I always loves me some hyperbole.

I just want to chime in here, and share my experiece and feedback.
I'm only 19, but I have some pretty severe neck problems.. I can't handle the weight of the LCD-X for more than 10 minutes.

I'm pushing 43 and find the LCD-X once on my head quite comfortable. Just saying....

Don't see how this response has to do with somebody that has severe neck problems?

Did you read my comments about my 72 year old father who has many of his own issues? Again, I said it I had a hard time understanding how 150-220g makes such a difference?

10 min was probably an exaggeration on his part... it was clearly a colorful plea for the almighty audeze to lose some weight; certainly nothing worth a misunderstanding over.  i have neck problems too (diagnosed arthritis and bone spurs in most of my neck bones) and they certainly caused some pain for me especially in the early days.  They have helped me strengthen my neck a bit and the other bit has been to moderate my usage between the LCD and my T1, though I much prefer the LCD.  Cutting a couple hundred grams would certainly see me wearing my LCD much more often.

I could appreciate lighter headphones, BUT not at the cost of sound quality or single-sided magnets for me!

Fitness levels and strength levels are besides the point.  If your neck doesn't crumble under the pressure of having 600gs on ur head, then the top of ur dome will develop a bad hotspot after 20 minutes due to the weight and Audeze's horrible headpad design.  I've been through every single Audeze and have tried to give them each plenty of opportunity, but they all still end at the same issue.  Good thing after 5+ years Audeze is finally starting to show an appreciation for its users by working with suspension bands.

Can I ask if you have a full head of hair? The weight has never bothered me with Audeze headphones, but it hasn't impressed me either. But the headband hotspot is one thing that's never given me a second's worth of consideration.

Well look, I wasn't saying that for just no reason. When I said "unable for more than 10 minutes" I meant it. It really IS too much for me to handle reasonably, at that point I notice the pain in my neck joints more than I'm able to take in the beautiful sound radiating from these beauties. Occasionally I'm able tolerate more, like 20-30 minutes. It seems to accumulate though, the first day I wore them I made it an hour or so, but it's like my neck is never able to build up strength. (I also have Chronic lyme disease) So anyway, I'm not a normal case and I'm talking severe neck challenges that I've seen many, many doctors for.. and I know it's hard to get a headphone as light as the HD650, or even the HD800, but after you go past 300 grams every bit seems to really make a difference for me. I can wear the HD650 about an hour longer than the HD800, just because of the 80 gram difference, and when you're up to 600g with the LCD-X, well it takes its toll on me.

But I'm not just a troll or over exaggerating, that really is my experience.. and I wish it weren't so. But hey, I'll take what I can get.. if I could get a 400 gram LCD-X I'd be thrilled. And I don't mean to derail the thread either, I just wanted to express my hopes for a future Audeze in case they were listening.

Cheers! That's exactly what it was, "a colorful plea". At least you understood what I was expressing.

Have a full head of hair? I do as well, but I thought of someone with a bit off the roof could have that sensation, but I haven't (but again, I've got a full head of hair).

Clearly comfort is an issue with many users who have tried or owned Audeze headphones.  I don't think there would be hundreds of posts on HF regarding Audeze HPs being uncomfortable if that wasn't the case.

I don't see how letting somebody with neck problems know that the Audeze are comfortable for you contributes to anything.  Just because somebody says something negative about a headphone you own doesn't mean they're saying something negative about you.
