24/48 yes really, I never problem with 24/48 file, I convert 24/96 to 24/48 and working, this same buying file in 24/48 always working.

Ah! That's where I went wrong. They were 24/92 and 24/192....I down-converted to 16/44.1, and now all is good...

In my earlier review I collated some of the information about the buttons and what they do, and the meaning of the different lights.

Hopefully it is of some help, I certainly found them useful. They pertain to the earlier Black version but seem the same for the Gold version.

I read that you had your gold alien modded by Cypherus Audio X. Could you share what are the mods and how does it affect the sound? Thanks in advance.

Hi @puppyfi, 
Yes, my Gold Alien have been modded by Cypherus Audio X. I am not sure what are the specific technical stuff about the mod but the end result is that the hiss is greatly reduced and the overall sound is much cleaner with better details and articulation.

I have noticed I am having issues with some files not being picked up by the Alien as well. At first it was whole albums, but that was solved by converting them down to 16/44.1. They were at higher rates before. Then it was single tracks in albums. Converting the album to WAV instead seemed to clear that up too. Looks like you should stick to WAV if you can with the Alien.

Great. So keen to hear your impression. I ordered Zero IEM to pair with Gold Alien and waiting for it to arrive. My main concern is that it is less sensitive to other IEMs that I have and slightly narrower frequency range. I am not sure how it will affect the sound quality. I hope that it does not sound like Hisoundaudio Wooduo which is very bassy wooden IEM.

  2. Frequency response :20hz-18khz

Wow. that is interesting. Not sure why they would change the name to another if it is screenless though. I guess that shape will be changed to be more mainstream. I use gold alien with Ety ER4P and sounds GREAT.

Can I double check if it is made of Mahogany or Red Sandalwood? Penon Audio website says that it is made of Red Sandalwood. Those two wood has very different characteristics.
It sounds like it is good all-arounder without particular emphasis. :)
