The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

Mine has a lower boost in the sub bass ...not peaking at 100...that wouldn't work for my music library.

It's icing...very important icing on the cake. That little bump in the 20,30,40, peaking at 50Hz area makes a big difference. The distortion line is that little switch for many many cans. Need an effects package like Jeteffects or clear bass or the like as the main tweak.

Why the hell did they change one of the main features of the thing and not change the name or at least it should be the first thing in the description. Same model number on packaging and the fiio itself...So annoying, now I gotta find one, gonna be awhile until I see someone wanting to sell a first batch of the e12. I think I heard they changed it because of feedback they received?
confused_face_2.gif
What feedback?!! Everyone that heard both said they preferred the first batch.\

Gain switch is also messed up with this version...Muddies everything up because of the 100hz peak.

No idea. Kinda sketchy but cans like Beats and Pro 900 and others actually thrive up closer to the new slope while the SZ and some others NEED that lower placed slope. For folks who don't listen to stuff like Hip Hop or things with a lot of info below 40Hz it makes no diff and the new vers is better for them.
Just as a basshead the slope in the picture is much much better.

In most tracks I have tested the 3 beat types have a 30-35 and a 50-55 and a 60-75 hit  so a peak at 100 is too little too late but for the mass market it maybe made sense...I dunno??

I heard a lot of folks bitching it was too low and I was wondering What they were talking about?....sadly it looks like fiio listened to them.

Sadly, indeed. I only use the e12 for its bass boost for hip hop and electronic music lol. So I need a low bass boost. I need more rumble. The problem with 100hz is that it boosts the vocals too and makes them more forward which is a big issue if your setup is already warm and forward or if the song sits on a V shape. You pretty much can't turn up the volume to hear more bass if the vocals kill your ears. I guess its fine, like you said, with the mass market that have flat or dull sounding setups but not for me.

Any idea when they stopped production on the first batch or where I can buy a first batch e12 new? Gonna make finding one easier.

or do what i do and eq down the rest of the frequencies from 100hz and up.  when i have the sz on i dont care much about the other frequencies anyways.  I just have them on for the rumble and impact.

I guess that works better. I only hear the difference with the lower 100hz eq when there's no bass. Vocals are annoying and in your face with the 100hz unchanged; the sound is just too boomy. There is rumble but rumble is better when the rest of the frequencies aren't boomy. Thanks, can't believe I didn't think of this and I guess it's better than spending another hundred bucks or so.

I get a lot of PM from folks wanting bass but also very concerned with staging and clarity.  They don't have a lot of cash and I find myself rec'ing these again and again so i might as well put this out there.

Forget any image of Monster you may have because these over ear versions of this set are boss

They slam.
They playback guitar/rock very well
Clarity is quite good
Price is excellent.

The bass is basshead level when pushed but it is merely  with authority without any eq. The response curve is really very very nice.
I rec these without hesitation.

From a Top 500 Reviewer audiophile:
8 of 10 people found the following review helpful Great headphones for all music types
By Tyson TOP 500 REVIEWERVINE VOICE on June 19, 2013
Color Name: Black Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? ) As a rather picky audiophile, I'm happy to say that these headphones get my seal of approval. I sampled a wide variety of musical genres including classical, pop, rap, house, dubstep, country, film scores, ambient, audio books and many others. The headphones handled each genre perfectly and even performed well on mixed genres, such as a dance song with sweeping synths.

Vocals are crisp and never muddied by intense beats. Individual instruments seem enhanced by the headphones. Subtle sounds are brought forward, enriching the listening experience.

As for comfort, I also give a perfect 5/5 stars. The cushions are very comfortable on my head and even manage to hold my enormous ears. The volume minimum and maximum is perfectly acceptable to me, although for those out there who like REALLY LOUD music, it may be a tad too soft for you. As for me, I almost never keep it at max volume because the mid ranges are great.

Bass levels are very satisfying, with plenty of kick as well as the deeper throaty bass sounds. Urban/pop lovers will be very happy. I've been using these headphones regularly for approximately a month and have not encountered any deterioration in the sound quality or technical difficulties.

OVERALL: while pricy, true audiophiles will no doubt find these headphones worth the price. I don't know that they're the best headphones I've ever placed on my head, but I will say that they are probably the most consistent. I LOVE Bose headphones, but they are not always perfect for all music genres. These NCredible headphones always deliver. I give them a solid recommendation.

I do vids cuz I can't trust just words and especially coming from folks that easily rec' stuff (this is other folks money...)without any attempt at showing the awesomeness. They are lazy (smartphone pic/vid is like 5 minutes of life) or full of ****.

The sz are what you see in the videos but they all have not original pads and use an amp (e12 almost always) and everybody is comfortable with and has a dap with an eq or an effects package like ClearBass or jeteffects.

If any of that seems a bother to you I do not rec the SZ as you will not experience what I and other contributors to this thread do.

Pretty much though I thing the drivers are re-tuned Beats Pro with less of a "V" and more sub-bass and a better high end.

So yeah, 1/3 the Beats and better sound....clearly (pun intended)

I wonder what having the SZ2000's younger brother would be like?  I live in Calgary as well and went through hell to get these here.  Now a pair of SZ1000's are availiable in my home town.  Does anyone know if the differences are worth getting both?  I know Hawaii may have them both still.  Hold onto those for right now.  Damn Head FI, need to book a meeting with the wife, finance minister.
