With the choice of USB port on the micro iDSD any type of "expensive" USB cable, including their own Gemini line, is an odd choice. Why would you have a "high end" chain of cables which is then "bottle-necked" by the adapter?
 
Prior of receiving the micro iDSD I had purchased a micro iUSB and was going to get a Gemini cable as well, but as soon as the new USB port design was announced I decided not to buy the expensive USB cable and have since sold my micro iUSB as well. I am using my micro iDSD as standalone unit right now and I am happy with that setup.

U are right ,i think i jump in on a good deal on the iusb n gemini cable bundle without thinking about the unique interface on the idsd micro.

Same here. I had to get another cable since the one I was using for my Nano was a USB3 type B which is not compatible with USB2 type B. The adapters would have not have worked in my case. I ordered my USB3 cable ahead before I got my micro.

Can you provide a link to the type of usb3 cable that you are using now for the micro idsd,i am confused what type of cable works and what won't work

I think many people got caught on that, buying into the ifi chain philosophy and then they changed strategy. It was a bit confusing I have to say and people do like to have a choice. Even if the product is good and all is working fine, consumers like to decide what works best for them. 
Even if the blue cable works... people might need a different lenght or dont like blue or whatever reason an individual might have, choice is king!

Theoretically your setup with the micro iUSB + plus Gemini + plus the adapter should actually work, did you try it with the small adapter as well, not just the one in the picture?

Just search for "USB 3.0 Type A Male to Type A Female"  like on Amazon many choices for example.
 
USB3 cables tend to be better made since they can handle higher currents(thicker power lines) and higher speed if needed using a USB3 port. I am using ASUS Z97 motherboard USB3 ports to drive my iDSD micro.  Mine was 9to5 cable just for the looks but any on Amazon should work just fine. 10 feet is really cutting it close but I have no problem. I have not tried my USB repeater cable for even longer distance.

Did the  short hard adapter worked at all? I would not be concerned about the adapter being a bottle neck at this time.

 Tried both no luck, the PC did not detect the idsd at all. Tried connecting the Gemini cable direct to PC (both heads) then adapter (any 2 adapters) then idsd micro, works great so I can safely say the adapter have no issue. Now is either the iusb got some compatibility problem hooking this way with adapter to the idsd micro or there is something wrong with my iusb micro.

Did not work for either 2 adapter but when u hook the Gemini cable both head direct to the PC and plug the other end  to the idsd micro with either adapters, it works.

i have set up my Vortexbox Server, works perfect with micro iDSD. it plays everything. DSD native, DXD.. you name it. no more noisy PC and JRiver required. the box is dead silent and easy to controll with any Squeezeserver controll app on Android or IPad. highly recommended combination:

I finally get it to work iusb -> Gemini cable -> hard adapter -> idsd miro
the problem lies with the part where the pc is connect to the iusb, I did not initially use the cable Type A to Type B USB as it is quite short so I use my own cable instead and not sure why it actually is the issue for my whole chain. My own usb cable is actually working fine before so I did not suspect it could be my cable problem and focus fully on other connections in the chain. Takes a trip to my helpful dealer to realize my mistake. Took 2 days hammering on other stuffs in the chain except my USB cable lol
 
Well it works finally. Thanks for the assistance from u folks in this thread.

read that great review minutes after emailing a friend today about micro iDSD,
where I almost typed "sounds a bit like a tube amp", and the reviewer did ha!
 
not to mention the "reference class bass"  which I alluded to as "tangible, realistic lower bass."
 
classic scary synchronicity.
