Dunu DN-2000 - Hybrid Impressions Thread (It's Here!)

What tip/ring amp/dap combo are you using now? Just curious..

I just got mine yesterday.. haven't found the best for me yet. So far, I hate the comfort, love the sound minus some of the SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS on some tracks.

Might possibly end my short journey here if I can get the right pairing for me ears.

I'm using red spacers, and clear oval tips which come with DN -1000, (not sure if DN -2000 has them) they can be seen a page or two back, Colorfly C3.

About the sibilance, while I can hear it the frequency it's peaking doesn't really dig in and 'stab me', it kind of rolls off a touch before effecting me. I've heard IEM that suffered so badly they would almost leave an after thought which made the next tiny bit of sibilance seem more emphasised, Vsonic GR01 was terrible, I couldn't handle that. so I'll let the Dunu slip.

All you can do is try different tips , insertion depths and sources, most importantly try not to let it annoy you.

Had the fxd80 and kept the tips:sweat_smile:

Never mind, I found out that JVC is selling the tips separately

Actually I'm a little bit concerned about the sibilance reported... Hope that I can have it under control with the right tips.

The EQ is there for you to play with. It can help
I guess that an advantage of having Hybrid on multi-driver IEMs  is that if you EQ the bass which is handled by the dynamic driver, it wont affect the BAs performance or should not be any bleed/coloring to the mid range

I've heard a few people say that the bass is on the light side. What happens if you simply give the bass a little EQ boost where you think it's called for? What are the side effects?

EQ works well and doesn't bleed, however getting a proper seal is more important. A lot of the tips don't fit quite right and lose a lot of bass in the process.

Currently running it with X3/E12 stack (2.1 firmware) foam tips, no spacers, bass boost on. I don't find it lacking in bass AT ALL.

I can't be the only one using this combo right? This shiet right here sounds terrific. EDM, Trap, Hip Hop.. good golly miss molly.

Agreed kinda bass is fine my martini + amp kicks it out by the bucket load got a awesome little stack using a line out from my iPhone 4s I usually like the flat EQ but late night brings out the vocals and detail beautifully

Glad to hear you're enjoying it mate!
What's really special about them is the clarity, transparency, and airiness that can compete with some high end IEMs out there.

I have quite a strange relationship with DN-2000, one minute feeling they edge out on my $650 RDB Mini hybrid, then an hour later (different session) magic isn't the same.

Just not feeling consistency, however I think Its user fault rather than the earphone.

Will I buy one? Well, I've said yes/no a few times, a final answer cannot be summoned.

I know exactly what you mean.
In my experience, it depends on the track on how it was mixed/mastered.
Most of the time it is excellent... then all of the sudden, it sounds flat on a certain track.

Hmh.. even some of my supposed "FLAC" files.. namely the more modern pop songs.. sound terrible.. hiss, sibilance all over the place.

Is this common ground for most here? I'd hope it would be a bit more forgiving.

The thing with the Dunu DN1000/2000 is that they are very transparent...
If the track isn't mixed top notch, they will definitely reveal or worse accentuate the flaws in the track.

Try listening to Daft Punk's Random Access Memories, Dream Theater's Greatest Hits, Tina Turner's Greatest Hits, and Avicii's True albums and they will prove how great the Dunu's are when the mastering of the album is awesome.

Your music and sound preference seem to be exactly in line with mine. I've not tried DT's greatest hits though.. gonna check that out.

Have the Noble's ended your journey btw? Just curious.
