Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Not sure if this is possible, but would be cool to see an expansion board for the Ygg to accept HDMI or DisplayPort audio and then output the video back to a display. I know it would only be 2 channel, but that is fine by me. Basically the expansion board would have a HDMI/DisplayPort input and output.

Now up to nine manufacturers who are implementing LVDS I2S I/O via HDMI.  Just sayin'...

I look forward to what all these new products will be. I bet a good few of them will be more 99 dollar type products like wyrd, and later in 2015 I'm sure we will get the next round of upgrades to Bifrost/Gungnir since yggdrasil would be out and might create some trickle down upgrades. Otherwise I think an overall refresher may take place with the current line up of amps (I figure the dacs will stay because of the whole upgrade thing). I could see either discontinuing the current asgard style amps, and replace them with a significant upgrade, but in those same price ranges. Something more than just a revision like has been done already. Either that or just add more products near those price ranges, and keep everything in production. I just figure with all the new products they are releasing, eventually they will probably start discontinuing the older ones if they have a newer/better replacement, otherwise they would be dealing with a schiit ton of products with a huge price range, all at once.

either way, the ride will be awesome :)

Here's two more hints for 2015, then I'll stop. I promise:

1. If you don't move in surprising new directions, you'll stagnate.
2. If you don't radically improve your own approaches, someone else will come take the market from you.

And that's it.

1. I'm thinking this has to do with things you've never done before so maybe we're talking about headphones/speakers after all... Maybe a music player, maybe a music server... the last possible option would be an AIO device.

2. Probably means just better upgrade-ability path maybe it's time to make a change to your approach, if you want more buyers, you don't have to tell us what news you make, you have to give people confidence enough to guarantee a stable release and an upgrade path, so if people bought something they can always upgrade it later, and I'm talking about amps.

3. I also doubt you'd stop at Ragnarok/Yggdrasil in terms of "Highest-end" you're willing to make, you can't predict the future.

While I'm excited to see what Schiit comes up with next, I don't think I'll be in the market for a while.  I'm thoroughly pleased (to say the very least!) with my M/G stack, and feel like I've just begun to explore their capabilities with the LCD-X.

I've very much enjoyed reading all of these chapters, and have gone through them all at least twice.  Hearing about the hardships and innovations associated with the products make me an even prouder customer and supporter.  I like that I am able to recommend Schiit gear to friends and coworkers so easily, because the price point, customer support, workmanship, and sound quality are all top notch.  If Jason, Mike, or any of the others end up reading my post, I'd very much like to shake your hands and thank you for what you've created for us.  Perhaps I'll run into you at a show someday, if not, my virtual "thanks" will have to do.

You could probably call me a Schiit fanboy by now, but I don't think I could be any happier.

Portable amps/DACs make sense, but I really hope they're not going into portable audiophile music players. They require insane costs and complexity in hardware, software, and services to be very good, yet they have about as much of a future (and present) as Android watches — and these guys are smart enough to see that.

I'd love to see what Mike says about that idea. Unfortunately I'm sure it wouldn't be printable.

Definitely.

A modern DAP is mostly a software project. Fewer things in our life need software, not more. I hate when perfectly good devices get junked up by bad software. I hate software. And I'm a software developer. I can't even imagine what the hardware guys think of it.

Thanks for the heads up on the Mani timeline.  No I can stop refreshing the website 3 times a day to see if they are posted for a couple of more weeks.

With regard to the surprising  new direction... Speakers would bring you full circle.

^Tubed Mjolnir excellent thought! How about a media server, storage, DAC all in one, at value pricing?
