DX90. 2X Sabre,1st page: Downloads, info&inst. . ! Lurker0 FW Mod link 1st page !!. .NEW FW! 2.3.0 . . . . .

After upgrading to the 2.1.0. My VC1000 dont sound that good ( dual armature ). The sound signature is more open. And when i reverted back to the 2.0.5 to confirm i heard a lot darker and bassy enviornment.
The new fw is great and an improvement but dont compliment the dual armature setup of the VC1000

With 2.1.0. The dynamic drivers sound a lot better. My Gr07 and Sony MDR-1R sound fantastic.

Also. The shrap roll of is wierd, the mids ( vocals) sound funny.
And spot on with the slow roll off.

I enjoyed the sharp roll off with the 2.0.5 but with the new fw its unusable for me, mids are like with some added delay and lost there fidelity.

Does any one Happens to be on the same page !??

I've been wondering about this...my impression has been that line out usually was max volume, often automatically set. Works fine into my RS HR2, sounds fabulous!

Hi,

My entire library was composed of aiff files, since the DX90 had some troubles reading the tags of certain files I re-encoded all my library to ALAC.

Now all the metadata are working ... except for the covers, not a single covert is workings.

Do you experience the same problem ?

Regards.

PS: I'm using the 2.1.0 firmware

Are you sure the covers are embedded in the files ?
If you come from iTunes often the cover art is not in the music files but in iTunes metadata database

Hi thanks for the reply I was asking because I read on the dx50 manual that when using line out volume should be maxed so the amp can get the full dynamic range. So whys a good volume I should put?

The manual instructions assume the external amp has its own volume control. In that case you should max the volume on the DX90 and use the external amp volume control instead. If the external amp does not have a volume control, use the DX90 to control the volume just like with HO.

It's not about dynamic vs armature. It's just about sigs. Borrego is convinced the new FW is an anti dynamic conspiracy so probably just letting all here hear what their things actually sound like. I find that when opinions on something runs a large gamut of signatures, it's likely close to neutral which is how I find it along with having more finesse.

Anybody ever measure the HO?  Tyll measured the HO of the AK240 and it turned out to be 3.5ohms than what AK put out in the specs as 1ohm.  The DX90 could have a lot more, and this could explain the FR variations of different BA drivers.  If you look at BA FR they vary depending on the number of crossovers.  For example, one BA driver vary in bass vs multiple that would vary in treble.  Dynamic iems have flat impedance characteristics, so they will not be influenced by HO's output impedance.

In which post did I mention conspiriacy? Are you trying to accuse me of something you want the others think of me nurturing conspirary?

I 100% listen to the DX90 LO through external amp at max 255 volume. I believe it is the same setup some 3rd party reviews came up with the ruler flat FR with the older 2.0 or 2.0.5 firmware.

If the 2.1 firmware is so different as everyone has said. Wouldn't it be natural to think it will deviate from the previous ruler flat FR? And very likely this less than ruler flat FR just happen to do the right EQ for the popular BA IEMs owned by the 2.1 firmware supporters?

Why worry about LO's output impedance performance with BA phones? Aren't you actually asking about HO? I don't have the exact number but I believe it's very high, typical of LO (10kohm ) which is supposed to be plugged in to an external amp input rather than drive phones directly.

Code:
[left] Output impedance. To check what our ears tell us that the DX90 can move both delicate Balance Armature IEMs as Vsonic GR01 (often complicated to move either by its frequency response or by low impedance), as considered Headphones " hard ", type the HD650, we will measure the output impedance. The BUF364 IT needs no resistance to stabilize output and is connected directly to the minijack headphone output. Therefore, all the output impedance of the DX90 is produced by the mere strength of the tracks on the board, solder minijack, etc.. We using the load of 15 ohms reproduce a tennis-3dBFS to 1kHz, with low gain and volume to 240, the AP measures 400.6 mV. When we remove the output load, measured 408.2 mV. Calculating: 15 * (408.2-400.6) / 400.6 = 0.28 ohms output. As assumed, a value of authentic reference.[/left]

Thanks, I need to know why these DAPs sound so different because they measure good.  DX90 measures well, and I've seen post for Chinese sight that show it measures well.  I'd like to see measurements with headphone load though.  All these talks of headphone sound like this, and firmware that...  I know SM2 has been done by Shigzeo, but like to see others, but at the same time, I'd like to see another DAP such as AK240 with the same load as a comparison.  I think this would be informative.

I have been looking at each FW version and see what the differences are which also may contribute to different sound. From what I can see 2.1.0 and 2.0.5 use sound effects pre-processing (libaudiopreprocessing.so) as per /system/etc/audio_effects.conf  and 2.0.0 do not. I am looking to mod the FW and disable all sound effects. I'm curious to hear DX90 without added spice.

The coax works great to the Chord Hugo and I use it all the time. I have used the coax that comes with the DX90 and I have a coax from Whiplash with a wire specially made for coax use that I use most all the time when using the DX90 as a transport.

+1. I'm using both the DX50 and DX90 as transports for the Hugo and they both work great. Using a Moon Audio digital coax.

I realized my amp was set to high gain no wonder it works brilliant with low gain. Thanks!
