The wheel direction just clicked for me.

It is a gear connection. Think of it this way and it becomes very intuitive.

no offense, how is that intuitive?  as its not two separate circles, but one big one on the screen?

No offence taken. It is two circles: one that you are spinning with your finger and one that you can see about a third of on the screen (the rest being hidden). And they are connected by a direct gearing relationship.

I get the feeling that people don't work with gears much anymore. If that is so, it won't be intuitive. It is for me.

I see what you mean and I did make that connection. I still found it a bit awkward at first though but it wasn't hard to get use to at all. I've dealt with much worse on DAPs :p.

sorry thats the complete opposite of intuitive.

working with gears has nothing to do with it, its the on screen visual and what happens.

it would make sense if there were two separate circles that weren't superimposed on each other

I see what you are saying. I ignore the little center circle as it serves no function.

Do you see what I am saying? The wheel that you are spinning with your finger being geared to the large circle of icons that you see on the screen? If not, we will just move on.

Navigating the UI is easy once you figure out which way the icons move as you spin the wheel. It's not Apple's UI - get over it.

I get what you're saying, it's still not intuitive as that little circle on the left moves. I could see the gears thing if the small circle went the same way as the icons but it doesn't so it's not logical to think of gears.

Apple has nothing to with it, rockbox imploys the same logic as it would just make sense.

The whole point is that it's not intuitive when you see the left circle move. No way around it. Logically, visually and intuitively it just doesn't make sense.

Want the icons move the opposite direction you move the scroll wheel? That's fine. Just don't make the small wheel on the left move the same direction as the actually scroll wheel. It's simple and should have atleast the option to change it for people who like things to make sense.

It would be a welcome addition to have the option - I hope they are able to add this in the future. I'm much more concerned about bugs in the UI, but this is worthy of attention on second thought. I think your perception of what is happening may be a bit off, but I do see your point at the same time (though this part of the UI doesn't bother me personally).

If you focus on the circle of icons as the part that is moving in the UI, than it does seem to move in the wrong direction. If you focus on the stationary highlight/select bar as the part that is moving, than it is moving clockwise as expected. The thing that I believe makes this seem off/weird/screwy is the circle on the left of the screen does appear to be moving (the light changes to give it a spinning effect even though it isn't clear which direction it is spinning) when you move the wheel - I think this creates the illusion that it is the wheel of icons which is being moved which can be perceived as a flaw.
