Neutral doesn't exist in my library of terms since it's a magical term around here. XD
I don't find the O2 to sound cold (i.e. lacking in bass, tilted in treble) at all.

aggressive Reproduced sound that is excessively forward and bright.

The O2 has a pretty laid-back midrange from what I hear.

Back to the X5....  @ James: is there any chance of an earlier international release?

Or at least to forum members who have the pain of reading about it every day!!

The presentation is quite stretched from left to right and sounds quite narrow without much depth. But the amp was quite forward to my ears (or aggressive). IEMs that were more on the laid back side paired pretty well with it but even then I'd still get fatigued listening to this amp with the IE80s. Goes to show how aggressive it really was.

My ears don't get fatigued at all though. XD

The X5 definitely has a warm sound

Hi, do you try x5 direct connect to alpha dog? Please guide some information. Thanks

Yup yup, I'll try that later.

For the above setup, I just had MacBook -> microUSB cable -> FiiO X5 (headphone out port) -> 3.5-6.3mm adaptor -> Alpha Dog

Can't agree more !

Exactly why I spent more than a few months reading about the X3. After realizing the limitations, I asked myself if I can live with those "issues" and its limitations for the price and improved musical enjoyment. Nobody wrote that it's no better than the decent Sansa Clip+

To even rant about what's missing compared to a DAP that costs twice, if not three times more than the X5 to me is a bit off-centered. That's the impression I have after reading a write-up from another site that sells affordable and expensive DAPs. Judging by how the same author wrote his review of the X3, one is left wondering if he was more impressed by the X3 than the X5.

Sure the X5 has room for improvements as all DAPs have.

Exactly why a few months after March, if the SRP of $350 stays, multiplying this with my local currency, the improved X5 as a result of Fiio's response to the constructive criticisms, will then be my other portable player while its older sibling the X3 is recharging :)

Hm, the Bugzilla website keeps giving me "software errors." :/

I ask the developer of the site to edit the default search parameters to show the number of votes as well as some other minor changes and it brings the whole site crashing down :xf_eek:

I'll give the site another plug when it goes back online.

After spending a few hours waiting for music to transfer to my microSd card, the X5 has been stuck on updating No.716 for a good 3 minutes now. >.>

Ah well, I'm fine with good 'ol folder structures for navigation. That is my preferred way to navigate my media anyway since I know exactly where things are. :)

I should get some sleep though since it's 3:30 AM here. XD

okay, just finished with the stand alone section of my review and wanted to try it as a dac, but drivers didn't load automatically; it failed to do so actually.  There a specific driver we need?

I thought you were all behind that :D

Lol, I was adding a whole boatload of bugs to the site in accordance with my observations here and updated a few bugs with additional info while I was at it. It seems you were the author behind all those bugs I edited :D
