With sansa RB'ed, it can very well drive the high sensitive M3/GR07 with ease and excellent SQ o/p.
 
Having said that,if you are really hungry for SS,detail,instruments,vocals etc more than present setup then you might press the button. Else wait for the 2014 for more breeds. I would say "NAH" for those budget DAPs like CF C3,HSA Nova series Now.

just got gr07 mk2 delivered,,i can say i don't like the treble out of the box,too piercing for my ears!!

"a" and design from 25/11 looks like ipod. absolutely don't like.
 
too big case.
too big screen.
too similar to x3.
 
imho,
absolutely most people satisfied with playing music from smartphone.
to that ~1% which don't satisfied x1 is not needed. 
~400$ difference from top players to x3 is noticeable. 
~70$ difference from x3 to x1 almost none.
 
so why, and for whom make almost x3?

i propose make maybe not so "hi-end", but truly compact and long-lasting player.
 
sometheing like ol'n'good cowon iaudio 7.

screen about 1.5"-2".
overal sizes about 75-80 x 35-40 x 15-20mm. (~3 x 1 1/2 x 3/4 inches)
battery life >20hrs. (personally i preffered >50 :)
hardware control buttons.

i don't think smartphone is a reliable player for so many reasons
 
1)big and heavy
2)not portable enough
3)there is a diff in sound quality,yup
4)u cannot listen to it uninterrupted as u may receive sms,calls or mails continously so it defeats the purpose
 
as for ur point on battery life i do agree it should have at least 15-20 hours juice otherwise there is no point.

1. Have you used any smartphones from the last year or so? Devices like the HTC One Mini boast both powerful specs and great portability...
2. Portability? The best scenario for portability would be having a single device--a smartphone.

3. "Poor" is a completely subjective term. For those for whom portability is the greatest priority, trade offs must be made. One cannot fit high end audio and processing hardware into a thin, light chassis and expect the device to run the entire day. Hopefully, the Oppo phone will be able to buck this trend, but that remains doubtful.

4. Alerts? With modern smartphones, those can be temporarily disabled or made only visible on the lock screen. Calls and other real time communicstions can be set to be temporarily ignored with user-controlled "do not disturb modes...

I find myself halving great difficulty in determining what the target market(s) for the X1 is is/are. As said above, the X1 will probably end up cannibalizing a good chunk of X3 sales. The X3, though popular with audiophiles, seems to be geared towards the "tech-literate" section of the mainstream. This group, which, for the most part, is fairly price conscientious, would jump at the chance to acquire a device with better fit/finish and near-par SQ with its higher end predecessor. There will, of course, be a significant jump in sales, but, without any idea of what your projected profit margins on the two devices are, any guesses made about the financial viability of the device would be...purely guesses

Those who already have an X3 would purchase the X1 in the following conditions:

Exercise use--assuming the consumer still wishes for premium audio whilst exercising

SO/family/friends--cheap player to give others the audiophile "bug"

Replacement--low cost alternative with most of the features and SQ of the previous model

Please note that my market experience is limited to the Western theater and that I cannot speak for what might occur in your home market of China. From what little I have gleaned from journal articles and your posts, the Chinese either want the best value for their money or the best at all...

i have nexus 4 for ur information
 
secondly i am not chinese but indian.granted we come from same third world as u would put it,right.
 
u can keep on arguing with anyone but matter of fact is lot of ppl like me prefer a dedicated player to a smartphone.
 
i have walkman e474 and clip+ and i prefer those to nexus 4 or any other smartphone for the matter.
 
the other point i am making is that if the x1 ends up having wolfson chip then its pretty good at 100$,provided it has a sd card slot.i agree that market for a dedicated player is shrinking but it does exist and problem with x3 just like smartphones is size and bulk with unnecessary amp built in which is not req in x1.
 
 
as for smartphones,i can confidently say that they cannot even better an e class walkman,,,,forget about clip+ and proposed x1
