I also find the the DN1000 to sound a bit more smoother when paired with my iPod touch 5gen.

Hi,

Im currently eyeing the westone 4r / um3x.

But reading around led me to this thread. It would be nice to get the dunu as it is cheaper but I can afford the 4r if need be.

If the "sq score" is just a few notches below the westones im sure this would be a great buy.

It is my first time buying a decent iem.

I have a m100, m50, and a soundmagic hp100. I mostly prefer the hp100's sound. What do you guys think?

Thanks and, first post! :)

These showed up at my doorstep today. Shipped out on Monday and was expected to arrive on Thursday according to FedEx; so imagine my surprise when it showed up a day early!

I bought these as a replacement for my very much loved (near two-year-old) GR07s.

As for initial impressions, I'm not going to say much apart from saying that the bass on these are superb, and that it sounds slightly clearer compared to the GR07. If I find the time, I might write a review in some weeks time when the "honeymoon" phase is over.

Though I'd also consider these technically superior to the GR07, I do think the Vsonic have something that the Dunu and many other modern phones don't: they just sound natural and tell it like it is. If you're sitting in a room with musicians, it doesn't sound microscopic or 3D, you don't feel like you're right inside that guitar or piano or immersed by everything in some grand soundscape. Those are the kind of things we expect phones to offer nowadays, and although I'm into all that, I do think it's worth remembering occasionally that it's an enhanced auditory reality rather than the real live one.

I'm gonna pick up a pair tomorrow! This thread got me convinced!

Btw, dunu's facebook said that dn2000 might probably come out in end of february.

Tempted to wait for the 2000 but the shop offered me the dn1000 for $160. Too good to pass up.

If I was you if wait on the DN2000, that's what I'm gonna do.

However if they really gave you that discount then you might as well go for it. Which shop is that Btw? Not an online store right?

Yes. Local shop. If the sound is just a bit of an upgrade from the 1000 but at $50+ more price difference, i think its not worth it. I figured to just get the 1000 now.

If the 2000 manage to be revolutionary,id probably have enough dough by then to buy em!

Fair enough, I'm sure you'll be happy with the 1000K.

Still, kinda depends what your previous experiences were.

While I love these phones, I do hear a bit of sibilance in them (FLAC & 320Kbps tracs) I've tried using small-bored vs wide-bored tips and still the same thing.

Do I need to burn these in a bit more? This is the only dealbreaker as I still have time to return them for a full refund.

You sure it's not in the recording, and that other headphones you own have just been masking it?

I haven't found the DN-1000 to be sibilant in the slightest ....
