Dunu DN-1000 - Dunu's hybrid IEM - Impressions thread

So for all of you who have bought these, where is the best place to get them from? I have seen them on lendmeurears and eBay on bigbargainonline for pretty much the same price, is there anyplace else better or cheaper to buy them or are these 2 the best? Thanks.

I'd subscribe to MP4nations email list and wait till a offer a 5 or 10% off special. They happen pretty regularly and would knock between 10 and $20 off the price. Plus they usually are good for free priority shipping.

That's what I did and got mine for $175.

Anyone compared these to the Westone 3? I love my 3's so much, they are near perfection for me, but am quite intrigued by the DN-1000 so they would have to be at least as good for me to consider getting them. Thoughts?

I enjoy the Dunus more than the W3s. The Dunu has a better bass quality and it's treble extension and sparkle are definitely superior. I sold the W3s a week after I got them and I don't see myself selling the DN1ks

I'm able to get a pair of JVC FXD-80s for cheap. Should I get them, or save up until I can get a DN1K. I currently have some EPH-100s.

I'll probably end up saving up anyway and get some FXD 80s later on as I've heard they sound similar to the EPH-100s.

If you have the eph100's and the fxd80 sounds similar, why get them? Anyway, if you get the 80's, my guess is that you will still end up saving for the dn1k's.

I thought that as well, and if the 80s are similar I may as well save up.

After some further testing with Sansa Clip Zip and Dunu DN-1000 I'm pretty much convinced with joe's opinion pages back that these two are a match made in heaven. Anyone wanting a source for the Dunu I highly recommend considering the Zip. Call me crazy but the 'Clip+' I have wasn't giving the same results. Must be the Clip Zip that you use. . I know in the portable source gear section they're labelled to sound the same but I can hear differences personally.

A lot of it comes down to synergy I guess, I've paired some IEM with my Studio V units and got nothing but lemons. These two just get along overly well.  Being 10ohms the Dunu is probably really agreeing with the Sansa's low output impedance. Certianly some magic going on, this is on Stock Sansa firmware, (not rockbox) Has really decent pace rhythm and timing too. (PRaT)
