Here's a suggestion for you.......
Look into the ignore option and use it to block my posts and you won't be bugged by any of my posts anymore. You only had to read the added edit entry at the end of my post to see I found the answer to my question myself using those exact search tools you're talking about. I suggest you please not be so rude in future because it can get you into a lot of trouble fast with the wrong people.
Have a nice life

  Mainstream?

Used to be iMod, then Studio V 3rd ANV destroyed the iMod, now the more expensive ones destroyed Studio V 3rd ANV. Wait ... even the DX50 destroyed Studio V 3rd ANV. LOL.

Just to clarify, the iMods are those you can buy not the ones called diyimods which some audiophiles can only dream of even with more than tens of thousands of posts. But we all know dream sometimes can come true if we keep dreaming (or even buying).

Sorry guys for a little laugh and off topic.

Well, where is my buddy Musicheaven? He got some crazy diyimods to compare with his DX50.

I do hope a clearer background will result in a less veiled experience as well. That's one of the main reason why I listen on high gain, even though I find the sound a tiny bit more spacious on low gain at approximately the same volume.

The mid gain makes the bass noticeably more distinct and more upfront, but it is too much for my liking. High gain does seem to tighten the bass and produces a higher quality, more controlled bass than mid gain.

After further investigation, the hiss is actually noticeable at all gain levels, and at low and moderate listening volume. It's something that a cheap sansa clip+ (without amp) can get right. Even my Nokia 5800 express music has no hiss with the same set of IEMs and headphones.

At thus price, I really wish for the hiss to be gone, but then again, the hiss from a pricier iPod touch and a simpler iPod shuffle is significantly more noticeable than the DX50.

My DX50 is completely hiss-free with all my (c)iems - The Tzar 350 will shine a spotlight on any flaws in your setup and they sounded great on the DX50. If the recording has hiss, however, they'll make sure to let you know! The Tzar has an impedance of 350(!) ohms, but on high gain with the volume at 205, this player isn't even breaking a sweat.

Sorry for all the imagespam

I am here, it's hard to explain and even harder to appreciate when you don't have one of our devices to compare it to. The ones we have and made use very different technology than the so called mainstream Imods but why write novels about them when we know that the sound out of those devices can compete even with the likes of the DX50. I still have mine and it is still with me because even though the sound is pretty good from the DX50, it ain't the dyimod sound.

Lame question but how do I know what firmware I'm running and how do I update it?

Yeah, totally lame! Just look in the manual and... Oh, wait.

Not so lame I guess!

To see which firmware you are running: Settings -> Advanced -> System Info
To update: Download the compressed file, unzip it. Copy the "update.img" to the root of the onboard storage on the DX50 and it should inform you that a new firmware has been found as soon as you unplug the USB cable.

Thanks so much. I was trying to look for an online manual, does one even exist?

So far they haven't gotten around to making one for the DX100, so don't get your hopes up...

You're a Nordic Legend Sorensiim! Thanks for the mirror.

Happy to help! Ibasso seem to be hosting their files on a 56K line so I figured I'd do us all a favor and put my fiber to good use
