The iBasso DX50 Thread - Latest firmware: 1.9.5 - June 30, 2016

Quick impressions on my 3rd batch firmware 1.2:
-DX50 froze after 20 minutes in media scanning. Restarted it and scanned the whole card again in about 2 minutes.
-Playing All Music on Random just fine now (*see comment #2 below);
-All album arts, song titles, artists and directories are being displayed correctly.

Sandisk 64GB Class 10 card, loaded with 30Gb of 24/96 FLAC and 30Gb of MP3.
Every tag and album art was adjusted using MP3Tag.
Powering a ATH-M50. I did not notice any difference in sound between low/medium/high gain settings, besides the volume, of course...

A couple comments:
-Did you guys notice the album name, artist and bit rate get highlighted when you lay your finger on it?
-When in Random mode, Previous track button plays the previous track on the directory instead of going to the previously played song.

edit: froze on shutdown screen after I clicked on "Ok".

Restarted it by holding the Power button and took about 5s to pass through the media scanning screen and start playing again.

Just got my very own Tralucent T1 to pair with what I'm calling my Three Horsemen of Audio...the DX100, the RWAK100, and the DX50.

I plugged it into the 50 first and was floored. Everyone saying that it opened up the soundstage was putting it mildly. It makes the 50 sound as good as the 100...without a doubt. I'm going to be putting up my other headphone amps for sale...2 FiiO (E6, E17) and a C&C BH.

I can't believe the improvement this little thing makes on an already fantastic product. Yeah there are bugs...yes there are glitches every now and then...but honestly...for the price point, the sound that comes out of it is insane...even more so with this T1.

Someone above said it truly...there is NOT a $650 sound difference between this and the DX100...not by a long shot.

Wow, nice hearing this! Am with Meier Audio Quickstep and I love this amp for my CIEM. 5th batch is shipping out today! Hope I'm getting it in few days time, not over 10 days!! Let's pray :)

Did I say your dx50 deserve a better amp?

Well the two-piece stack (with a quality amp) will be a serious challenge to a high-end dap given the separated circuits and power supply. Yeah the trade off is the portability if you need to place the gear in your pocket all the time. But how often do we need to have the gear in pocket?

This looks awesome.  So it works with the DX50 flawlessly?  No compatibility issues?
It's made to work with Android.

Ha! You did indeed D...the T1 sounds insane with all three actually. When I put the T1 with the DX100 it raises the bar again. So...the 100 still rules the roost so to speak...

The order remains the same...

DX100
RWAK100
DX50

However, I am seriously considering selling the RWAK100 now and using the DX50/T1 combo for work. If I get one of those Meenova's the DX50 can hold just as much music as the RWAK100. The T1 brings the DX50 on par with the base DX100 and sounds better than the base RWAK100.

That just tells you a dedicated quality amp will perform better than the built-in amps of high-end daps. That's no surprising otherwise we'll be all fool buying these standalone amps selling for 300 bucks or more.

Now you may want to try even better amps and I won't be sorry for your wallet. LOL.

Hi, guys -

I'm sorry of this topic has already been broached, but how well does the DX50 drive full-size headphones sans amp? What about those with seemingly moderate requirements, such as my Shure SRH840? (I do plan to buy higher-end headphones eventually.) I have limited dexterity and coordination, so IEMs aren't a practical option for me, and I don't want a dedicated headphone amp.

Thanks,
Brian

Welcome aboard!

Yeah, thanks, I guess...

But that's not all. Second time I tried it took around 30s to shutdown. I even thought it had frozen again. To be honest, I decided not to try to turn it on once more. Just put it back to its velvet bag. I only hope it hasn't shut down for good.

Tomorrow I'll perform the same tests with my Fiio X3 and see how it goes.

What is sad about it all is that I'm not trying any fancy functionality. Just a mere play-it-all-in-random-order.
