Received my DX50 this morning :D No issues of yet. Im putting a 64gb sdxc card in it once it arrives in the mail. Very easy to use and the touch screen works really well. Sounds brilliant for the price, cant wait to put some HD music on it and see how she rocks.

Gee this thread is moving at record speed and never seen anything exploding like this at head-fi.

Steve now you need to show a video dropping your iMod 3 times from ceiling and let me see what's inside that damn thing.

LOL give it a week D...if they don't fix the firmware...

Naa...not unless they make a Yo Tank for this baby!

Lets see, the sonic differences between a C3 and this 50...or..."fitty" as the guys on my crew are calling it LOL.

Both are bright sounding to my ears however I find the detail on the 50 to be better. For this comparison I call upon classical music. I find that the separation of instruments in pieces like:

Betethoven, Symphony #6 in F (Shepherd's Hymn)
Elgar's, Cello Concerto in E Minor - Adagio
and Mozart's Symphony #40 in G Minor - Molto Allegro

My ears hear an absolute increase in depth and spaciousness as well.

Next I compared Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon (DSOTM), Judas Priest's British Steel, and the Who's Quadrophenia,..all 3 sounded more precise than the C3. Granted, not as good as on the DX100 or the RWAK100, but for gods sake, this thing cost a third of the price.

I love the C3, but to me...it's a way better unit hands down...

From a musicality and a technological standpoint...the "FITTY" wins.

Yeah, my iModded 5.5.

iMod wins for ease of use...lol but that's it.

What IEMs or headphones do you normally use when making these comparisons?

I agree though Apple has one of the best (if not the best UI). Although when I factor in ease of use that would also mean convenience of loading the device up with music with software of my choosing :p.

I'm using my Grado v4 Magnum Woodies, Heir 4Ai's, UE900's, and Senn HD 650's...literally going back and forth

Cool. Thanks for clarifying :). The headphones/IEMs you use as well can play a big part in all of this. The more resolving they are the more revealing of the source they naturally will be.

I don't find them bright at all. Sounds quite linear in my ears but it seems like I want a bit more sparkle.
Soundstage depth is stellar and vocals reproduction is excellent.
Reverse channel issue was fixed by restarting the dap.

Very true, although I don't have the heavy gear that you guys have, with the different iems I own I can feel the difference, more so going from iems to headphones.

So far you've been describing my state of affair with the dap hiccups. A good reset (multiple times in my case) did the work. Another peculiar issue I had was the whole environment felt very wrong like the graphical display with lower looking resolution, inability to play tracks properly in sequence. Very frustrating situation. What I did out of desperation is to remove my folder called Playlists from the root directory, then did a reset and all of a sudden all my problems vanished. I don't know if that was the issue or the reset that did the work but now the UI looks crisper and I can play my sub-folders files in sequence through the navigation buttons. I am a happy camper now.

The sonic changes over the first few days for me, GG are:-

- first couple of days, a little warm and languid
- bass comes out to play, more impact and definition...however trebles get tizzzy
- unit started settling yesterday, 5th day. More balance, spatial portray is more precise, trebles has calm dow and mids has fleshed out

Today more of the same ....................

I am really enjoying my unit and without an amp too....it is definitely not the technical tour de force of it's big brother..but it is all so alluring to listen to and draws you into the music very nicely!!
