You'd think that with 3D printing we could have a choice of colors.

noooo lol

HE said the ALPHA leaks a lot. I need a closed headphone with some bass now to go with the he-500. I have had the he-400, hd650, x1, and some d2k's so  I get it...

quoting mad lust:

"I have some new info on the Alpha Dog:

It has some SEVERE NOISE LEAK, but seems well suited for outside use, which seems to be a contradiction."

That was a joke. He was talking about the robot in the video, which is also nicknamed Alpha Dog, apparently. If you re-read his post, you'll find that he was most definitely not talking about the headphones.

I try to include ****ty recordings into my tests too.

Yup!
And I have a bunch of those! LOL

No Allison Krauss.
size]
...blasphemy.

Agree!
Love Allison!

As mentioned on my impressions, I listened to Kaskade, Netsky, Orquesta Macabeo, etc. For specifics:

Kaskade - Fire in your New Shoes
Kaskade - Room for Happyness
Orquesta Macabeo - Me Repito
Puya - Fundamental
Killswitch Engage - My Curse
Belanova - Chica Robot
Logo Beat - Despierto
Taking Back Sunday - A Decade Under the Influence
Fiona Apple - Extraordinary Machine, Sleep to Dream
Marc Anthony - Aguanile
Juancho - Amor en la Mesa
Pendulum - Witchcraft
Netsky - Pirate Bay
Amber Rubarth - Washing Day

and a few others... (yep, spent hours listening yesterday). I tend to listen to different genres since I spent most of the day listening with the Shuffle function out of my mp3 player at work. Most are MP3s 320kbps and others are FLACs. Initial impressions still stand. Not sure how Matt perceives the HE-400s bass but if the ADs can "hang" with them, they should be anemic on the lower region as well then... Just in case, after reading Matt's comments, I went back and check to see if I was having any fit issues as well. The AD's fit "snuggier" than the MD's and they weigh a bit more (cable adding a bit of that weight is my guess) but I couldn't perceive any issues with how it fits me or the seal... so again, my initial impressions still stand for now. I will continue using the ADs today and during the week at work. I'll see how they hold out.

As an off-topic note, I must profess that part of me had been waiting for somebody to jokingly reference that robot for quite some time.

Having fun testing these out! They seem more firmly in the neutral, reference camp rather than the lush, fun camp. I would imagine tuning the bass would make them more lush, but I'm leaving them in the default position.

Wow, nice amp, Neumann's and headphones!

It does look short.....or maybe you need to retract the headband all the way to have better clearance.

Well based on the size he has the headphones at, it seems similar to my mad dogs setting. I would like a headphone stand that I can just rest, and take my headphones from without having to readjust every time. So I was just wondering if it has been mentioned the dimensions of the headphone stand (height).

The printing and painting are completely different processes...

Ah that's where I have been going wrong then. Luckily I use IEM's outside so I can drag my face along the pavement with no issues. Not sure why people wear full size headphones outside of the house TBH...

If I am completely honest I would wear iem but I have very small ear canals and I find it very uncomfortable. Hence full sized.

anemic is a strong word.
he-400 is the right amount for me...I can only do a little less.

Words just can't express how disappointed I am that my AD's did not arrive, or even ship this week, even after getting the paypal email.
Bummer.
I have very limited time to listen to headphones right now, and this past weekend was perfect, with about 6 hours available.

Ok- I'm done whining.  Figured this was the only place in the world that I could whine and get a little sympathy...
