My ASG-2s are definitely coming tomorrow. I'll post my impressions ASAP. Unfortunately I'll be at work when they are coming... :frowning2: Well I'll have plenty of time to listen to them.

Congrats! I ordered a little over a week ago but no word yet. How long did it take for yours to get shipped?

2 weeks. You can email Andy about wait times though. Sometimes there are delays like lack of parts.

If what you're looking for is clarity, the newer 1p2 revisons have that, plus improved mids and subbass. Their thinner note presentation may offer you the clarity you want. The silver/gold cable on the ASG-2 does close the gap in signatures, but the price of the ASG-2+tralucent cable is enough to get you a 1p2 if that's what you really want.

I'm confused on this "newer" 1+2 talk. I only know of the original 1+2, which sounded V shaped with bigger bass and the revised 1+2 which is slightly U shaped, with excellent sub bass and top end sparkle. Are you saying there are 2 versions of the revised edition?

I am in opposite situation. My AS-2 have a lot of bass quantity even when the ports are closed. Comparing to ASG-2, AS-2 are always bassier and also tighter.

So anyone know if ASG-2 has different manufacturing batches previously that Aurisonics made with different changes to its tuning/make/sound signature like the Tralucent 1+2?

Nope they don't.
Someone from Aurisonics mentioned here, that they might do some small mods/updates in the future, though :p
But don't expect a ASG-2 version 2 anytime soon.

The G-2 and 1plus2 sound nothing alike. The 1plus2 is noticeably thinner thru out the range. The mods include adjustable tweeter and a cross valve bass mod to adjust sub bass response. I heard the cross valve mod is coming along nicely

I spent the morning, using my new headphone/amp switcher, conducting extensive a/b comparisons of the ASG-2 and TG334. My findings were considerably different from Eke's.

Firstly I can agree that the G2 and TG334 share a similar frequency response in general. They both have strong bass presence with a forward midrange and gently downward sloping trouble; and they both present this sonic signature very well- both are engaging and a joy to listen to but I definitely hear significant differences, which affect the overall all feeling, emotion and tonality of presentation.

Both have very nice midranges but this is where I also find the most significant difference. The TG334 has noticeable more forward upper mids, which lend to a brighter overall signature with better transparency, smoother transients and wonderful delicacy in vocals. As a consequence the G2's mids sound not only much warmer but also have a rawness about them.  I don't hear the delicacy in the G2 but rather  a bluntness (in comparison). This may come across as less emotional or intimate in vocal performances but then lends to an aggressive rawness for rock, which I very much enjoy.

Paradoxically, even though the TG334 sounds brighter to me, the G2 has bit more treble presence. I really like the blend of the full range dynamic driver here, overlapped with the dual BA. Treble on the G2 has more weight and thus better timbral realism. The TG334 treble sounds slightly lighter (in comparison) and crisper. I really like the better articulation of the TG334 treble but would happily trade it for the tonality of the G2 treble.

The differences I hear in in the midrange and treble are born out in the various test tones I compared in my FreqGen app for the iPhone. The tones also showed very similar bass extension.  I find the G2's bass notes harder edged but both seem to have very similar decay. Surprisingly the treble extension was basically equal as well using this app, although they have different elevations: between 7.5 and 8k for the G2 and the TG334 has less variance on either side of that range, with maybe a small peak at 10k.

I look forward to doing this same comparison again, once my custom AS-2 returns, as I remember it having a few differences in presentation  and technicalities from the generic version. To tie back around to Eke's assessment, even though I hear them pretty different in mids and treble, I can consider them brothers from another mother- the G2 being the little brother of the TG334.

Thanks SGS! I'll add your comparison to the OP as soon as I get to a computer. Where can i get one of those amp switcher thingies?

Btw, Idsync and vwinter should be ashamed of themselves. This man hammered out impressions in one morning, while you lazy chumps eat breakfast and watch cartoons. If I'm ever made a moderator, I'll give you both "lazy chump" custom titles.

Now here's a smiley face so you don't take me too seriously.

:)

Are these mods that you're describing for the asg2 or 1+2?

The asg-2. Though, i doubt there'll be an adjustable tweeter mod, since that was a one off thing for soubdbear. The cross valve mod is on its way though. It should change the bass port in a way that makes it affect sub-bass more than mid-bass.

Yes thanks SGS! I was really curious about the mids of these two iems, especially since the mids of the 334 look so similar to the F111. Personally, I found one of the biggest drawbacks of the ASG-2 to be the mid-bass bloat coloring the mids. I actually gave two of my brothers a listen, and they said the same thing without me mentioning it at all. This was with the bass port closed.

Yes it does color the mids and I can see some liking it, for a more lush sound, and some not, especially if you are coming from a more DF tuned phone.

By the way, the fit on the G2 is by far superior to the G1. More comfortable and easier to get the correct fit. I recommend the radio shack auvio tips if anyone has access to them.

Haha, I like to finesse my impressions. I like to be wined and dined by my IEMs before just plastering every naked detail about them all over the internet. :D

And I want that cross valve mod!

I would also take that custom title into serious consideration lol.

Very true. But I'd add that the G2 mids are probably a good bit warmer than even the newer, and some might say more accurate, Olive-Welti target.

Agreed about the fit and auvio tips.
