@GSARider
hmm, i've done it on windows actually....
at the instruction says something like this....
"To upgrade simply extract the hex file to the root directory of your player and restart it."

i think u can extract from the "AstellKern_AK120_Firmware_v121.zip" file and put the "AK120.hex" inside the root of your AK120 folder (not the micro SD)

im copying this from the website.

All Macs running OS X can unzip the file natively. Your Mac might very well unzip the file for you once it's finished downloading. You'll be left with a file called 'AK120.hex' which needs to be placed in the root folder of your AK120. Once you eject the disc and remove the USB cable it will automatically detect that there is new firmware to be installed and do it's thing! (unless like me your battery is low in which case it refuses upgrade itself until you've charged it for a few hours).

They have sorted the numbering and sequence of songs in an album

It seems more detailed, open sounding and much wider, to the extent of the little brother AK100 but with depth..

So you're saying the firmware update has altered the SQ?

I was chatting with him on this as well. Seems like the sound has changed somewhat... Less warmth. More focus on mids/vocals as well as treble..... The presentation does seem to be more spacious as well....

I'll let you know if I notice any difference in about 4 hours when mines got enough charge to execute the upgrade :frowning2:

I actually can't imagine it sounding much better than it has done this morning. Been listening to a 24/88 FLAC of Carlos Kleiber conducting Beethoven's 5th and 7th and it sounds just truly awesome.

first thing that i notice,
at v1.00, when u plugged it into a source from the micro usb jack. you will got 2 option that wether u wanna charge only or u wanna use as a storage device.
at v1.21, there's 3 option. 2 of it was the same as v1.00 and you got the USB DAC

when u used as the USB  DAC, the display will change, some text will appear "connected to USB DAC"
the volume dial at the AK120 still works, altough the interface change from the original volume bar into plain text below the "connected to USB DAC" text.
the sound pretty much the same character as AK120 which i found very good compare to my old direct computer to active speaker..

now i can do works while i listen to AK120 at my desktop! yay!!
