No I haven't heard it yet as it hasn't been released yet here in the states, but I have read some pretty good reviews on it. And it sounds like the DAP to get unless you want to start paying a lot more for small sound quality improvements. I haven't followed the DX90 much though since the DX50 had quite a few problems when it was released.

It's kind of understood that the RE-400 is a great iem and a massively huge bang for the buck.  RE-600 not so much.  And while the 846 is awesome, punting my LCD-3 out the door good, it's not a bargain

Are you saying that the Shure SE846 replaces the LCD-3? :)

Hi guys, just curious, what do you guys pair the SE846 with? I just got mine and I am using it with a clip zip (rockboxed), and am looking for an upgrade.
I use the SE846 with the HM901 (with the IEM card) and a DHC Fusion IEM cable. With my smartphone (Galaxy Note2 with Neutron MP) it sounds good but weak in comparison with the HM901.

I see. I've tested it on the dx50 and it was great, but am waiting for dx90 and x5 to be available for testing before deciding.its a long wait though. :frowning2:

Yes.

On the go I use the AK100 Mk2 and there is a chance that it replaces the big rig at home too.  Maybe... we'll see.

Great, can't wait till my Shure SE846 arrives :)

I have to say something  very similar to Solude is happening to me. I mainly bought the Shure to use on the move but recently I have been listening to it quite a lot at home, despite having the HE-6. I won't say it is better but different and very enjoyable for sure. Probably, new toy syndrome, but that never happened before with any other iems I own.

Hi everyone,

Does anyone pairing their se846 with AK120? Care to share some impression?

Since the 846 have an 8 ohm impedance and the ak120 have a 3 ohm output impedance, I'm worry whether they match or not?

Thanks

Kith

Purely objectively the 3ohm output causes a 2.5dB variance in frequency response compared to 0ohm.  Essentially making the resulting curve sound like you were using the filter one below what you are.  White becomes blue, blue becomes black, black becomes mud :p

Which I actually find really useful since on the road the extra bottom end helps drown out low frequency background noise like road noise or engines while at home I don't need the boost.

Yup. I tested it straight out of my note 2 as well, was good but just lacking.

Anyone tried it with the x3? Just curious

Yes sir.  Very nice combination.
