Bowtung thanks for your info. I joined the club too late and hence missed the opportunity to get thay discrete card. Do u prefer classic card over both discrete and balance card?

Factor in battery life, volume control, the  sound signature i like and using jh13s, then yes, but  I am one of the outliers, do ask other ppl about their opinions as well :)
For full size cans though, go for the balance or discrete, there's not enough power in classic, and it scales better as well, i feel like iem's don't really reveal balance card's full potential. It sometime's strikes me how good the 901 can handle my he-500s

Yes, the balance card can drive my HD650 decent too..

I really think battery life on balance card isn't such a big issue considering the new battery is better and the design allows you to change battery. We can just buy one or two more... it is not the most optimal but still a problem money can solve...

Is the new battery much better? I purchased my 901 right after the cutoff date for the battery replacement program.
My battery is made in August and I am not sure if its new or old, don't know if they're going to replace it, my machine is in repair with them now

oh yes, it recharges quicker.... I only listen to max 3-4 hours per day so I have never drained it empty....

anyway, hope they will throw in a new battery for you when your device is fixed...

I have ask about a low gain card or no gain. The docking station looks to be towards the end of March.

I bet a Balanced IEM Card would be a good next idea for Fang to focus on....

Or a 3 level switchable Balanced like some amps have.

I am a bit confused re Amp Cards

If I use DT1350 or ES10 do I need to order a separate amp card?
Does it come already with an amp card installed?

Used to come with the classic card. Now you're given an option to get the balanced or iem card along with your purchase. Not sure if they still give the standard classic card along though.

Different cards for different SQs and for different needs.

For dt1350, i think best to use balance card but that requies modding your phones..
If u can compromise a bit, minibox matches well too..
Both bring out rich detail from dt1350...very good cans

So just to clarify - surely it must come with some type of amp built in? or none?

The mini box seems the best bet from what I can read. But at £600+ I would expect
it to be able to play out of the box.

It should be this difficult! or I could just be feeling a bit thick today.

You just choose the hm901 starting from default classic card (cheapest) to balance card (costly)

Minibox card has power and its single ended, if u cant be bothered to balance yohr can or buy adapter.
Iem for iem users

Each 901 purchase will come with one card (classic, minibox, iem or balance)

To add to what CHG said, you have the amp card that comes with your set and you can later or at the same time choose another card is user swappable. So that you can have more than one type of signature from the same DAP, depending on what you need or fancy.

Hope that helps. :)
