The Fiio X3 Thread.

24 bit AIFF means nothing to me today, but who know about next month or next year. It, of course, is nice to have the extra capability should the need ever arise.

Still waiting patiently for a US retailer.

I'd like to see more of the operating system, navigation and UI.
Micro Sd takes a while to load when alot of content is on it on Cowon players, how does the x3 compare?

Is it possible to re center the bass boost? 100 hz is too high......why not 50 hz?

James,

After I updated my library some albums are grouped under "Unknown Album" in "Category". Those do show up properly in iTunes so I guess my files are missing some tags the X3 is relying on. I'd like to know what tags the X3 uses in defining an album. Thanks!

So, not one can confirm that there are AIFF in 24bit? I known that iTune can only converted music to 16bit AIFF.

HDTracks sells AIFF in 24 bit.  Not sure if you have access to that in China...

Could you upload the files to somewhere so we can download and see why it can't

SQ wise it's better than clip and imod (yes I've tried rwa imod 4 gen using fiio amp)

...I am happy to hear this statement. I am a supporter of the modded iPods. I have a couple myself and have helped others here mod theirs. I think that up until now, it has been a really good choice as a DAP, the Apple UI etc is of course great, the SQ is good, and the cost of a modded unit can be very reasonable if it is DIY. (I don't think the RWA cost is worth it, IMO)

That said, it's time to move into the future already! It is high time that we have a modern alternative that is affordable, and a one box solution that will beat out a DIY or RWA iMod. Comparing prices of a DIY iMod setup w/amp vs. the X3...well, similar.  Depending on your amp choice with the mod, the mod will still probably cost more than the X3. X3 will win on price, simplicity, portability...probably reliability, and from this post, SQ.

I sure hope the SQ improvement vs. iMod turns out to be the general consensus after the X3 gets into more users hands. Thanks James!

@James
Any recommendations for SDHC classes?

There are class's of cards for speeds. I just bought a 32GB MicroSDHC Class 10 card so it wouldn't be a problem, but I'm sure some may buy class 2 cards and wonder if it will be enough or if it will be a problem.

this is quite interesting. I'm not very well versed in this topic, but won't the lower class cards have trouble when used with really high bitrate stuff?

I play 720p videos on my tablet from a class 4 card just fine. The one playing now has an overall bitrate of 2,129 kbps and it's smooth as silk.

Even the lowest class can at max read or write at 2MB/s. The usual MP3 is abotu 10MB whilst the lossless FLAC is about 35MB and the WAV at 50MB.

But of course maximum read or write is generally not achieved with these cards. Class 2 is meant for SD Video recording. Not to mention latency and other things with class 2 differences possibility.

For those doing FLAC's. Class 4 at the least is what seems to be the option to use
