To me, they sound very different, yes, but I haven't compared desktop DACs to each other yet. I only intend on getting the $2,299 Schiit Yggdrasil as an upgrade to my Modi 2.

I would not use desktop amps, but that is just me. i just listen enough of time while walking and such, so i would loose more using a piece only desktop...

YKYAAW you tried a generic headphone of your friend, plug it to your source with FLAC audio, hits play and can't help yourself but laugh. Hit the stop button, and returned that awful piece to your friend and tapped the table three times.

LoL! That literally happened to me yesterday. Bwahahaha...

YKYAAW you dream of a place where you can use iTunes gift cards to buy CDs

YKYAAW you wish the empty lot near your house was going to become something more useful than a dollar store, like a CD store

buy ie800, shure 846, akg k3003,  or any end of game iem...

Along with that you'll need an AK120 II, Chord Hugo, Cypher Labs AlgoRhythm, maybe a few pure silver interconnects...

YKYAAW you use different headphones for different genres of music.

YKYAAW you dream of a place where you can use iTunes gift cards to buy CDs

Just use them to get exclusive content that is only on iTunes.

YKYAAW you spend more than $5 on headphones that aren't Beats

Okay, that's twisting the truth a little. Some Beats models are at least better than many headphones under $100. I know a guy who has owned or used most ultra-high-end headphone systems (including the Orpheus), yet still owns the Beats Studio.

I didn't say they were bad; I've heard the Solo 2 is pretty good. I just included it because most audiophiles wouldn't purchase them.

YKYAAW your mom asks what you want to spend your money on and you can't tell her because it's more audio gear

Witchery!

I had given beats, the most expensive model, i have no ideea of name, a listen...

I tested them with the same tracks i usually test headphones. The sound was muffled compared to ie8. the bass was there, it was more distorted than ie8, the treble were rolled off and very quiet. soundstage was nowhere near great. I really don't think that they can be up to their price, by any considerations, my ie8 sound much better on all levels, my ultrasone dj one pro are too different to compare...

I don't know to me beats were just a mufflet bass distorted without enough treble version of ie8 sound... i can see how that could be enjoyable with some music, but it is far from being up to the price or other headphones, they costed more than akg k550, yet performed worse on almost all departaments, except for bass, which was much more on beats... something like that...

I love great bass, like ie800 bass...

YKYAAW you have a longer list for audio hobby than for the rest of hobbies combined!
