SF Bay Area Meet on Sunday February 17, 2013 (the one which is really going to happen)
Feb 12, 2013 at 12:56 PM Post #333 of 477
FYI, all, if you've got a favorite CD or SACD go ahead and bring it. I'm only bringing a CD player so if you want to hear your music on my rig you'd better bring a disc!

I have a pair of Magnum V4's that I'll bring. It's seated in wooden cups, so not a "full Magnum" but you will get a sense of how they sound compared to a normal Grado.

Hi:
I'll be bringing my  LCD-2R2 that was purchases new from Headroom in May 2012. I don't know what makes a unit a "2" or a "2.5" but I'll have it there.

Which reminds me... here are some public service announcements:

  • Don't forget to [burn and] bring a disc as TMoney suggested.  It's not cool to expect that people are automatically going be be cool with you wanting to plug your own source in the signal path.
  • Bring 1/8"-to-1/4" adapters and 1/4"-to-1/8" adapters.  You'd be surprised at how often this is an unexpected (and deal-breaking) issue.
  • For the love of God, and out of respect for other people's gear, ease up on the hair care products and cosmetics (yes, girls do occasionally show up - don't gawk).

Just some simple lessons learned from last year's LA meet.

Oh nice, I'm glad there are going to be a pair of HE60s at the meet as I've never heard em. I hope they are terminated with a stax connector!

Also, nice job with the list, Quest.

There was an HE60 at last years meet and i really enjoyed listening to it.  The only other headphone which beat it was the HE90 :wink:

Sure Quest...

Macbook Pro (iTunes)  => Entech number cruncher => Earmax / Darkvoice 337 / Larocco PPA =>RS1 / HF1 / K701 / A250

I have a K240s that I really like, but just the other month the cable bit the dust.  So I am looking to buy a cable for it, If any one has an extra they'd be willing to sell me... shoot me a PM.  I'd love to have those cans up an running at the meet too.  FWIW I actually prefer the stock cable... you know the cheap one everyone just throws away when they make a $$$ upgrade.

The macbook CD slot is wide open too for anyone who wants to pop in their CD and give their tunes a spin.  I know iTunes is really slow and clunky with CD playback... sorry in advance about that.

PS I can't believe I'm going to a HF meet without Dire Straits brothers in arms...
