Good to know I'm not the only one who feels these are a bit muffled. Maybe I'm too used to the HF5.

They are a bit muffled because of the bass. Still much better than many other basshead IEMs that are recommended here.

I think their FR works best from my iPhone where the bass is slightly reduced. I can't help wondering if this was intentional as that is where they are most likely to be used by the average buyer.

I have the XBA 3ip and I kinda prefer using it on the iPhone 4s than any of my other devices. It even sounds a bit warmer when paired with the Ipod Touch 5th gen.

I just got the XBA-3IP"s yesterday, and I have been using TF10's for over a year. After spending some time with the Sony's, I think they are nice, but not in the TF10's league. First of all, they are not nearly as efficient as the TF10's. I have to up the volume on my Zune 32hd 4-5 steps to be roughly equal. The mid-base of the TF10's is much more impactful. The sound stage and dynamics are not up tho the U.E.'s level either. Now this is with the stock tips and maybe 30-45 minutes of listening. I also included the MH1C's in the brief comparo as well. I would say that the XBA-3's are a little better as far as resolution is concerned, but they lose a bit in the bass department, vis-a-vie the MH1C's. This opinion could change with time, tips replacements, etc... As an aside,  I also tried the X10's at one point, and thought the TF10's were much better. I will say, to me, the XBA's are better than the X10's, by a little. And If you get them from Best Buy for the price, I'd say they are worth it. But an improvement...not to me. YMMV

I am also rocking a Zune HD and found that the XBA 4 are less efficient than the XBA 1 and Brainwavz B2 but even though it sounds quieter I am still using all of them in the volume level 10/30 guess I am a quiet listener.

Thanks for the detailed reply. If I were to get them, I would probably replace them with the Shure tips that I use for my TF10's. I think that the Sony hybrids are little too pliable for me and do not provide as much isolation and seem to worsen the sound. Of course everyone has different tastes\ears. I will definitely think about these though because the price is really good right now and I love new gadgets.

One thing that is way better with the XBA-3's is the form factor. WAY better than the TF10's. Even with the flip mod, they are ridiculous. I guess I was too excited about trying another pair of triple armatures. But as I mentioned before, I am going to try different tips, and for laughs, I will see how they sound through my Clip Zip. I will update my observations when I can.

I actually play through my Clip + with my TF10's, and sometimes my ipod 3g 64gig. I do not have a nice amp to connect them to. The flip mod did not feel right for me. As for form factor, I imagine that the XBA-3's are much more comfortable,

Just got mine today from best Buy.
 
They have a laid back sort of mellow sound signature. The big bass is a plus (for me) but I do notice a tiny bit of a metallic tinge on some notes that imparts an artificial sort of sound but nothing too bad for $80 (after tax). Definitely worth the price for use on the go with my iPhone 4S.
