The diary entries of a little girl in her 30s! ~ Part 2

I can't see buying a 5S unless your contract happens to be up and you simply need a phone. Personally, I'm done with Apple phones until they recognize that a good portion of the world has hands larger than you'd find on a typical 5th grader. I eagerly await the Nexus 5.

I've been holding off on smartphones for so long, waiting for the "game changer" to appear. Sadly, this probably will never happen. Right now, all companies seem to be stagnant with their "innovation." I'll probably get something by the end of the year.

It's easy, really. If you want a smaller Android phone, buy an HTC ONE*, for a larger phone get a Galaxy S4. Everything else is pretty much irrelevant right now.

(*Or a Nexus 4 if you want something relatively cheap off-contract.)

The hand size is a great point. And don't forget ease of reading......my father (who is 65) has to put his reading glasses on to do anything on his iPhone 4 asides from answering it....and if he answers it without the glasses he can't tell who's calling. Yet I can watch entire HD movies on my 5.5" Optimus G Pro, and I'm 42.

Once you throw an otterbox on their it is pretty big then :). Of course I wouldn't mind a bigger screen. Then again I don't think any phone would satisfy what I'd call reasonable in that regards. I hate tablets as well for that matter.

Hey yeah, that's a good idea!  Maybe even gold metal.  Wait... this reminds me of something... oh right, new iPhone announcement.

I know Romy hates smartphone talk, but on a superficial note:

This would be an awesome trinity. Is champagne gold / white the new 'on trend' combo for electronics this season?

I think we will have an answer when Sennheiser releases a champagne / white Momentum On-Ear.

I don't think she hates smartphone (or OS talk) per se... I think she just gets terribly bored when that's all we talk about for pages on end.

Wow, you have a good memory!

Now the question becomes, to ban or not to ban...

You are banning cyborgs? but do they not have souls too
smily_headphones1.gif

Nope.  Besides, souls don't stop humans from getting banned.

Romy already has one.  You mean augmenting it?  Like "A Special Snowflake w/a Kick-Ass Memory" or something of that nature?

I think he meant giving the bot a title, like Son of a Bot-ch.

You are correct sir! I was indeed referring to the mystery bot.

Oh.  Nah, waste of time.  However, if thread wants to come up with a new custom title for Romy out of affection and admiration, I'm game.

"I love the smell of an IP burning in the morning, smells like,................Victory"

If by victory you mean burning plastic, then yes.

+1 as a geek the Nexus 5 will always be great bang for your buck ^^

Are there any dates I should look out for regarding Android devices? Getting the HTC One or S4 now... feels like it'll go obsolete in a few months when their newer model comes out.

The only things really that hold me back from going to an Android phone are:

a) My music collection is all done up real nice in iTunes and I don't know how well syncing works with an Android phone, especially in regards to things like ALAC
b) They make all sorts of cool attachments / accessories etc. for iPhone just because it is one phone with one form factor. I would kind of miss that sort of thing.

This all sounds vaguely Stockholm syndrome-y. Right now I am debating with myself about whether or not to jump on the Xperia Z1 when that is available...

The fingerprint sensor seems awesome to me though. Not having to unlock my phone 100 times a day would honestly be something I would pay for, especially when all I want to do is quickly check my phone for something random (ie: weather or Shazaming a cool song).

iTunes will not see any non-iDevice and sync to it, but drag and drop with ALAC on an Android works just fine......here's a screenshot I just took on mine.

You lost me at 'drag and drop' :frowning2:

I set up my entire music collection with star ratings so that I could use smart playlists and never have to use drag and drop. That functionality is terribly important to me.

I see that there are some programs that do syncing between iTunes and android, and also Poweramp plays ALAC though... so I will have to do some more research.

They make a lot of accessories for the more popular android phones as well.........

Anyways  didn't you get a new phone just last year?

Ever since I discovered that I can sell things on eBay for quite high resale values, it's more attractive to upgrade regularly. I'm slowly working through a collection of old electronics thatare gathering dust and recovering some good money that way :) For instance, I have an old iPhone 3G that will fetch $100 or so right now!

My iPhone 5 is worth about $600-$700 at the moment (and maybe more now that everyone realises the iPhone 5C is not the cheap thing everyone was hoping) which is the same price that I can get the Xperia Z1 for. So it really becomes a question of, why not?

That was Poweramp in my screenshot, playing the ALAC...I guess I didn't mention that before.
