Haha yea...this is the FAD thread after all...not the one guy who has something to say about another retailer thread.
YMMV on all retailers I suppose. Whatever works for you!

Which is precisely what I had said from the outset. Just enjoy the music whichever way we choose.

I'm sorry to point this out but I was originally attempting to help CJG888 evaluate his choices in the repair of his FAD product...not discuss how a certain retailer can affect the purchasing process. I'm sorry that I responded to being called out on the issue...but I was only trying to help a fellow Head-Fier by helping avoid a method of resolving a problem could potentially become more....problematic. Sigh.

You strayed from the point. Let's move on.

OK, so I contacted FAD and they responded within 2 days and said they would not recable my Heaven V because of microfonics and tangling, but said I could either increase my medications, try yodeling with James444, or visit the Land of Loves Domain, or go to the Land of For We Are Many. And if that didn't work go visit Shotgun and get him to slap me around!! Then they sent me a series of pics of how they would suggest putting them on, so here's a few of them!!

Lovely beautiful music!! Penguin eh?? I really didn't know you played cello!???
Actually, the music reminded me of my Heaven V, the most beautiful sounding IEM I've ever heard!! I'd love to get a custom like it, but who makes a custom with the signature of the Heaven????

Actually... you were the first one to bring up penguins in this thread, remember?
But joking aside, anyone who owns a FAD phone should give Penguin Cafe's wonderfully idiosyncratic soundscapes a listen. I'm sure they sound great on all FAD models, though probably best on the FAD 1601 and Piano Forte series.
Here's a live recording that presents a good overview of Penguin Cafe's music:

If HiFlight is on the money, (And much to your chagrin I'm sure LOL) perhaps the AS-1 Plus. I'm assured that the mids are otherworldly or something. I've ordered the universal 1 Plus but it's gonna take awhile for it to come cause apparently AS has to build it due to increased demand this holiday. I'll keep you in the loop.

Have there been any other impressions on the Heaven VII/VIII published elsewhere?
I'm thinking of either as a complement to my FitEar MH335s (which replaced my 334 but is now going through repairs), but I'm not entirely sure what I'll be getting myself into. Sound and comfort wise. They look like they're at a good price range, and they're made oftitanium? SS, but that's still good.
The last FAD product I used was the Piano Forte IX, which although was a surreal sound experience, I couldn't get used to because of the fit.

I bought Heaven VIII on Monday (£499). I spent about 5 hours listening to it against Heaven VII at my second demo at HiFi Headphones in the UK. Truthfully, I only listened to H7 for about an hour of that.
I'm afraid to say I found H7 lacking in foundation, mildly oblivious to the music and a bit restrained dynamically. Quite detailed and surprisingly open (though not as open as I'm used to with EQ'd HD650). Enjoyable but it didn't grab me by the scruff of the neck to keep me listening.
That's because H8 really is quite addictive. It's direct-injected music. Flat earth heaven.
I find the lower midrange warmth a bit much with H8. It is cloying and can be distracting. It makes the sonic character jump about like crazy as the music changes (changes of artist/album/recording) so that some things seem fine and others sound, frankly, puzzlingly unlike how I've heard before. So the presentation is a bit schizophrenic, whereas H7 is consistent, though a bit uninspiring.
I'm planning to upgrade my phone at some point, which I think will clear a way through some of that warmth. And, dare I say it, allow me to use EQ. I'm hoping that my cheap phone is at least partly to blame for the crazy I observed. Briefly plugging H8 in to my PC as I write this, (EQ off) brings a fair amount of sanity ... So I should de-emphasise that craziness.
In the end, comparing H8 with H7, IE800 and SE846 it boils down to only one of them being truly compelling in the way it makes music. Sonically, they're all very different, so I imagine some people will choose something else because it's "musically addictive".
I don't understand what the "balanced air movement" technology is, or what it does, but H8 has it, while H7 doesn't according to the product pages on Final Audio's website. I don't know if that's the only technical difference between the two as far as sound quality goes. But the difference in presentation is substantial. And for me that difference carries over into the music: H7 is communicative but a bit diligent, whereas H8 is a wild ride through music.
I don't know if H8 needs to be run-in, but mine has about 30 hours now.
I'll write more, later, in the thread I started after my first visit to the shop, a week ago.

Hey guys,
Do you think it is safe to say that someone who likes the Heaven VIII will love the Lab 1? I might buy it to see if I should try and get the Lab I at some point.

Also, how long would it take to ship a Heaven VII from Price Japan or a Heaven VIII from Amazon.jp
Depending on the time it takes, I'll have to change the address I'm shipping it to.
Also is there import tax?
