man, i really like my asg-1 rev 1.2 but i cant wear them for more than 2 hours fully inserted. they seem to put too much pressure on 1 part of my ear and after that its just too painful.

anyone know any iems that sound similar to the these? or any way i can get rid of this pain. it happens to hurt near the concha. i cant get any kind of seal with any tips except the medium double flange stock ones.

Interesting. Maybe this is a move to make sure they can reuse the custom shells for AS-2's if one decides to upgrade to them. Let's see how mine come out. Won't be too much longer now.

I'm getting a set of silver cables to test out with the ASG 1.2 and the AS-1b this upcoming week. I'll let you know if there's any perceived difference. If you look on the OP, I had a few links to the old thread about aftermarket cables. Seems like most of these were tested with aftermarket copper cables and ppl seem to agree that those helped open up the treble a bit while taming the mids (correcting the spike of the ASG-1.1).
The sonic difference should be a bit more prominent with the Silver's. Anyways, I'll let you know if i hear any difference between the two cables when i get them later this week. Regardless, I think replacing the stock cables with aftermarket ones is a good idea since aurisonic cables all turn green after a few weeks/months. Cheapest options for those would be westone replacements or UM replacement cables which can often be found here in the sales section or ebay for around $40.

UPDATE, I've noticed that the AS-1b (1.2) set that I recently received no longer use the same design as the original AS-1b with the sealing ring, but now have the hypercoating tips on it for comfort. The headphones seem to be dipped or coated with these (you can see where the coating stops) and it gives it a translucent tip that feels deceptively soft, so much like silicone that you'd be hard pressed to believe that its just a thin coating. I'm not sure if this is a standard feature for all AS-1's now, but according to the pictures on their facebook, other sets of AS-1's now also sport this super comfortable tip.

Thanks, AuralHygiene. I'm also looking at the Heir Audio Magnus cable because it seems to be around the same cost as the Silver Dragons. I could probably splurge for a better cable but I need to know the ASG-2 upgrade pricing first lol

Haha yeah. I'm waiting for the information on upgrade pricing as well. Well I'll definitely let you know once I get them in how it is.

On the other hand, I just received my revised my ASG 1.2's and I have to say, they are straight up BASS MONSTERS.  Even compared to my Phiaton MS400's the sub-bass just explodes out from these with thunderous force. Extremely impressed. Again to reiterate what others have said the mids are a lot more tamed down, though the high seems a little bit weakened as well. However, I'm loving these straight out of the box so I can't wait to see how they fair after some more time.

On the other hand, having these at the same time as my AS-1b's allows me to make a nice comparison in the upcoming weeks. But initial impressions shows that the AS-1's are much more balanced sounding.

Bass wise, the ASG's are unparalleled, they extend deep and powerfully, making my whole head shake. My bass port on the AS-1s are currently out of operation due to the tool not fitting the adjuster on my right ear piece but turning the left piece showed that the sound could easily be adjusted to match if not exceed the bass of the ASG's due to better sealing. However, as someone who prefer's the sound of the etymotics series, I keep the AS-1's toned down.

Mid-range wise the ASG's are much more calmed down compared to the ASG 1.1 which have a sweetness that has been slightly removed from these. In fact, while most people gave strong criticism of the initial mid-range of the ASG 1.0's, I definitely was with tinyman in that I thought that the mid-range of the original ASG's were its defining and best quality. However in the 1.2's the calmed down sound is a lot more friendly for most songs I've listened to (no more spikes), but seem to lose a bit of the massive sound stage that the 1.0/1.1's possessed. However, on the CIEM's, the adjustment allows one to regain the lush mids without the spikes and maintain a equally large if not larger soundstage as the original ASGs.

The trebles on the AS-1s are very much present and have a nice sparkle that the ASG's does not possess. These are the weakest part of the ASG's so far, which has been consistent since the first revision. However, the CIEM possesses the unique ability to make the trebles shine through through the valve adjustments. With some EQ, the AS-1's easily reach the sparkles of my UE700 but with much better  lushness and balance all around (though they are slightly slower than the UE700s). However, the ASG's require quite a bit more EQ and never fully reach this level.

Overall, I'm highly impressed by the new revision of the ASG's as I can't help but find myself getting lost in anything with a beat. Yet, this also shows me why the AS-1's costs several times the ASG's as there is a marked difference between these and the generic. Having the bass port allows one to adjust to several different settings.
Finally, this also makes me extremely curious for what more the AS-2's have to offer considering how wonderful the AS-1s are already.

I dont know for sure, but I would imagine the AS-2's are a lot better. I'll know more when I get my AS-1's....man they need to get here already.

I just received the ASG 1.2s from a fellow HF-er and that's exactly what I'm feeling. The bass rumble of the 1.2 is simply stunning. Now, the slow long wait for the ASG-2 upgrade... ><

Tell me about it. I've had the ASG-1s for 2 months now and seeing the release of other IEMs just makes me want the ASG-2 upgrade to come earlier.

Calm down fellow Aurisonics lovers. You shall have your side-grades soon. Trust me on this one. Just hang in there for a little bit longer. It's so worth it, and you probably know that. Should be getting my AS-1's this week and that means comparisons are coming soon. I hope maybe that will settle your mind for now to wait for more information. Might need to pick up a set of ASG-1's from a member to give a comparison between the AS-1, ASG-1.2, and AS-2's.

Aww dude, a comparison might just convince me to grab myself a AS-1 as well. They only thing that's been holding me back is the ASG-2 upgrade soon to come..

Heh yeah... I've been so damn tempted to grab myself a Heir 4.A/8.A/3.Ai considering the glowing reviews that have been pouring in... Any thoughts/comparisons on those, btw? And I notice you've got a Pico Slim for sale - have you tried those with the ASG-1.2? It really might make you reconsider selling ;D

Only the universal series are upgradeable to the ASG-2. AFAIK they cannot upgrade AS-1 customs to AS-2 customs as they would need a new mold (which is the same is making a new custom)

Inaccurate. Generic ASG-1 can be upgraded to generic ASG-2. Custom AS-1 can be upgraded to custom model AS-2. This has been repeated over and over. Can't upgrade ASG-1 to AS-2 or AS-1 to ASG-2. That would require a new shell. And the Aurisonics process includes digital scanning of your impressions. So they would just use that unless its really out of date and your ears have grown since then or the original impressions were not good and you did not get a good fit. That would require you to take new impressions. Though the hyper coating on the AS-2 allows for any slight changes in ear size to be accounted for as it will help cling to your ear and make that perfect seal if their is enough of the coating.

I hope this was helpful. Wrote it on my phone
