You guys must have amazing peripheral vision if you can see your iems while you are wearing them!
Seriously, if Dale called or emailed you two (you know who you are) right now and offered the polished version for the same price, you'd give him your credit card info on the spot?

I had a slight delay due to something Dale and Andy caught during QC, but I just got shipping confirmation for my AS-2s!
I'll gladly offer some musician's and amateur Head-Fier impressions. If we're lucky, maybe shotgunshane's order is sorted too, or will be shortly, so we can get some masterful high-end comparisons just in time for the ASG-2 release.

Like I've said before, a large part of choosing custom monitors over universals is that 'custom' part, and having the freedom to customize almost anything for little to no extra cost. That said, no I wouldn't, because Ill just be upgrading my ASG1. Don't think I'll pay for the custom version of these.

Don't forget, you have to put them in your hands before you have them in your ears.
Who knows, one day there could be amazing sunlight and you want to admire the beautiful clarity of those shells. But yea, aesthetics are what seperate an already good product from an amazing product.

That "custom" feel is definitely Heir's domain. How are the ASGs btw? I might try and find a used one later as a budget backup for my C4s.

Ah, for me it's all about the sound. i thought 'custom' was short for 'custom fit', so they would be more comfy, better isolating, and better sounding. I am not concerned with appearance per se, but fit and finish is relevant as it speaks to quality and longevity. I guess that's just a matter of different priorities.
The other part of your initial post seemed to be implying that certain things should be free, or really inexpensive. For example, I'd say that used iems should probably only cost about 70-80% of their retail price (exclusive of shipping charges). To each their own I guess.

Meh, they're just alright. A little too thick and bass boosted for my tastes. I'm getting really annoyed at how long Mitch is taking to send back my 7X. I miss having high quality sound on the go.

Anybody stepping into custom iems in the first place is clearly concerned about the sound. That's obvious. The second desire is for a personal design, a work of art that nobody but you has.
The other part of my initial post is not implying anything. I am simply stating that other CIEM companies offer plenty of customization options at little to no extra cost when you design and order your CIEM (considering in most cases you're spending 700-1500 dollars already).
However, I am fully aware of the differences in Aurisonics' AS-2, making it all but impossible to offer such options without a significant increase in price. Regardless, that is still a turn-off to a potential buyer who thinks like me. No matter if the sound might somehow be "better," although that statement is always subjective.

Actually, the whole point of customs is to avoid the hassle of universals. With a well-done custom, you're getting a fit that's personalized for you. If you want to debate price/customization, look at companies like spiral ears that only offer silicone colors. With AS, you're getting metals as customization. Dale has already explained that the reason that you can't get a polished shell without a plate. The DD design is proprietary, and it really isn't that attractive. If its that big of a deal, then just buy another product....

My post, which seems to be the one you're responding to, addresses everything you mentioned. Did you even read it?

For those wondering, I believe you mean dynamic driver in place of DD. I have no memory of him saying that specifically but I might be forgetting it after it being so long since new news was out. Very soon we shall know more

Do you know if they're ASG-1 1.1? or 1.2? or even 1.0?

I typically just give my ASG-1.2 the default "Treble Boost" EQ in iTunes or iDevices.
