Android phones and USB DACs

Cynicalmushroom and Haojan thanks for the responses!

I bought the E07k and can report that it is working on my Note 2. I am not stock though, I am running "Cleanrom V1" (Verizon Base) and the Perseus Kernel (v30.1)

I've got the short micro b to mini b otg cable on order but hooked it up with the supplied usb cable and a standard otg cable. I think I'll look into the 3M duo lock because the rubber bands aren't cutting it. The E07k is smaller than I thought it it would be. I have to say it works pretty well. I will give it a few days run to see if it works out.

Edit: Also works on my wife's Note 2 running Beans V5 rom along with v28.1 Perseus Kernel.

Try Pugoo from udsproducts.com, it is bomber. No adhesive or rubber bands for me. I am wondering if the E17 will work with that kernel. I don't have my Note 2 for a couple more weeks though.

Been searching for an answer everywhere, can't find a straight one, so I guess I'll just ask lol.
So, from what I gather, if I have a stock, US version Samsung Galaxy s3, connect it with the 'charger' cord to a external DAC / AMP, say the iBasso 10, and plug my headphones into the DAC / AMP, it will work and I'll get that beautiful clean sound?
Thanks!! :D

I am also seeking an answer to Samsung Galaxy S3 (US, SPH-L710) compatibility in any degree... ROMs/kernals that work, needed steps for connection/use, what have you, for the FiiO E07K

Yes according to the following list of USB DAC reportedly working with the Galaxy S3:

The cable, used to connect the Galaxy S3 to the iBasso 10 peripheral, should be tested with a simple USB peripheral like a USB mouse.

"We have tested E07K do work as DAC for GALAXY S3 and Note 2, but there are few users reported that they can't make it work. so the official reply can not state as " compatible " with Galaxy S3 and Note 2."

You could select another USB DAC/amp, like the iBasso D-Zero, of the long list of USB DAC reportedly working with a stock Galalxy S3:

An "Android USB OTG cable" is also provided in the D-Zero box by iBasso:

Just plug & play!

For the ones with a i9300 I have some decent news. I've found a ROM that looks just like AOSP but still has USB audio working. The only reason I stayed on stock was because of the usb audio but now we can have both!

It has the latest XXELLC firmware with the Exynos fix.

Here's another great option:

It also allows for DPI tinkering along the lines of what Paranoid has.

Thanks! I think you should notify your findings to Xtream Software Development so that they can update their list of working Android devices and their list of working audio devices.

Good news for FiiO E17 owners : the Galaxy S3 with USB Audio Recorder PRO interworks with the FiiO E17 USB DAC/amp

music stored on Galaxy S3 > USB Audio Recorder PRO player > digital USB audio out >> "USB OTG" cable >> FiiO E17 >> headphones

Does that mean I still can't use E17 to stream Spotify on US galaxy s3? Thanks!

The Spotify app can’t use the USB audio function which is included in the USB Audio Recorder PRO app.

Like a modified Neutron Music Player, a modified Spotify app interfacing with the upcoming USB audio service developed by eXtream Software Development could output a digital audio stream to a FiiO E17 USB DAC/amp:

"If some generalized audio output API is provided by developer of USB Audio Recorder Pro then it would be great and Neutron would support it as one of additional output drivers. In the future it also worth trying to develop own USB soft-driver too."
