Ok thanks for that info Guy!

I have another question now, what is the best format to re-rip all my original CD's into, to get the best from my sound on this device ?

Thanks

Martin

reading through the thread think you'll find that WAV or Flac is the way to go unless you want all your music on it then use mp3-320k.... get Media-Monkey to assist, I've been practicing with that on my PC and it's real easy (in readiness for when I pull the trigger on a DX100, it's still too buggy for me for my limited PC knowledge)... and I'm crap on PC stuff but you get great advice on this thread... I'll PM you in a while

Hi, just tried ripping a cd to flac via Exact Audio Copy, but the file it creates has an extension of .wav ? is that correct ?

Also it wont seem to add any "ID3" tag data to the "details" of the file ?

Thanks again

Ok, ive just tried mediamonkey on a track, and yes I can see were the extension for the file is now ".flac"....but still no tag information ?

think I asked a similar question a while back... I wanted to know why the bit-rate wasn't showing etc... I was reliably informed that if you are uploading from CD into Flac it would only show up as a Flac-file... if you uploaded via SACD or MasterSound Gold-Disc(?) you would get bit-rates etc.

I've been too busy with SonicStage uploading album art onto every track on my Z1070 via Atrac-lossless to concentrate on Media-Monkey with regard to getting things ready for the DX100... watching paint dry would be a better occupation but at least I'm learning about stuff and trying things out that the good members of Head-Fi are advising me to do.

ohh for the days of the cassette huh... I only had to insert a CD & then a cassette chose what I wanted, press record and hey presto 'music to go'... now I have to do a thousand things to get the same result... progress huh... all for the sake of a decent SQ.

If i rip using windows media player (.wav lossless) the id3 data is present, so that would seem ok, and it probably is on the Ibasso.

However when i try putting this rip into Itunes the metadata is missing, why ???

Well iBasso does respond in a timely manner. Playing all my music right now. Great stuff. I really enjoy the PortaPros with the center foam cut out. I still have mine, well two pair, one balanced and one SE, from years ago. They have received a very unloving environment and treatment. Well they get love but not the treatment and they just keep playing on. My other phones need protective cases etc and don't provide near the fun.
