iBasso DX100:24 bit for bit, PG 1> Reviews & Impressions, Downloads, VIDEO, NEW Firmware 1.4.2.

Sure, but the issue was that some people have been unable to access internal//onboard memory whilst Sandisc 64gb SDXC plugged into the DX100 - the menu only shows the SD card contents, with the internal/onboard memory contents seemingly invisible/unavailable. I'm hoping this may just be a firmware bug rather than a hardware issue.

Correction: I didn't say that.  In my case the software still shows access to the "Internal Storage" and it is entirely available to open, and shows it properly within every directory - The contents, however, are just a mirror of the contents of the micro-SD card.  Clicking on any will just play that cut off the micro-SD card.  The actual contents of the internal storage is entirely disappeared with my micro-SD card mounted.  Both Poweramp and MusicPlayer only see the songs on the micro-SD card, but the directory still is available for the internal storage.  Hope that's clear.

@Jax is saying what he physically has :-
Internal Memory
Album 1
Album 2
Album 3

SD Card
Album 4
Album 5
Album 6

But what he sees through the player :-
Internal Memory
Album 4
Album 5
Album 6

SD Card
Album 4
Album 5
Album 6

What I'm curious is if @Jax downloads and installs something like "File Manager", what does that show him? i.e. is the overwriting part occuring only in the Music Player or is it happening at the Operating System level.

Yep, you gotta go with what makes you feel happy. Don't try to like something.

Personally the DX + Poweramp is one of best DAP experiences I've had. The vast vast majority of my music is not 24/192. For the few albums that are, they seem to work fine as long as I'm not playing by Directory. Playing by Album, Artist, and Playlist seems to work fine on the stock player.

I like the ability of Poweramp to queue up music. I like album art and being able to swipe it to the next track.

I like that I can look forwards to improvements both from iBasso, who have already proven that they will update the player as well and as quickly as they are able, AND third party apps like Poweramp to make the player better.

For me, this compares very favourably to the Hifiman player and an ipod + amp. And the sound is the best I've heard from anything I can shove in a pocket.

ME like DX100 + Poweramp too. !!!!
+1

Just loaded a couple of gigs of Alison Krauss (lossless 16/44) onto my internal memory (I already have many gigs on my SDXC card) and now all I'm getting is black screen and occasional 'force close / wait' prompts. Seems like it's a firmware issue for me..

Hmmm...I mentioned this previously many posts ago but I'm not certain if this is an actual problem or if it's just the CPU is slow in re-indexing newly added songs. In my case, sadly when I kept pressing "wait" (or actually just left it on it's own...it only asks for "wait" when I tap on the blank screen), it actually recovered on it's own - which leads me to think that it's actually doing something. Just doing it very slowly.

Yeah, I also had lots of long hangups, and that same "Wait" or "Force Close" option popping up every time I tried to rush it.  The gestation period for re-indexing 63gb of music was epic. I too pushed the "wait" button an few times and then just let it stew like a crock-pot and eventually the music appeared.

That is precisely correct.  To answer your question, it shows up in PowerAmp and Music Player at all levels of looking at the folders and directory.  Looking at the "Internal Storage" at the directory level of the Android system does not seem to reveal the contents of the folder- at least not that it showed me.  I did not download "File Manager" so can't answer that one, and wasn't aware of the app, being an Android virgin.  Someone else who's having the same problem will have to have a stab at that as I've given up on it.  Its heading home tomorrow.  I have not heard from iBasso at all since my query on this subject, and frankly I'm really tired of trying.  I've wasted much of my weekend trying to get this thing to operate smoothly and it seems to defy every effort and I'm certain there must be something very wrong with it to perform this way.  Firmware or software or hardware....at this point I don't care.  Its just too much work to try to make it perform at an acceptable level for me, and I could not enjoy what it does have to offer with the bugs it currently is riddled with.

Hopefully others with the same problem as you will give some kinda File Manager a shot.

Anyhow, this is sort of a general reminder to those who were in the 2nd batch (myself included). We -did- get a discounted value for a reason. Especially the 1st adopters back in January. Although not written that we're beta testers or UAT, it would be strange if iBasso intended to release the DX100 as it stands across all three batches but charge different prices.

I don't know how the rest of you 2nd batch owners see yourselves but for myself, I see I got a discounted price 'cos I'm identifying issues for them prior to "production go-live" for 3rd batch. I guess those who are not prepared to face major bugs should rightfully wait for the issues to be sorted out - but then live with iBasso's full $829 price.

My 2 yen worth...

Well I will have a 64gb in a day or so and will format and check it out. A Sandisk class 6 I got from B&H. Good price at 78 dollars, as I posted a few pages back.

So far, now, after loading everything, I am getting good response with the stock player and poweramp. I disconnect the USB when it pops up on the menu of the DX100 after I disconnect form the computer. It seems to like this. It can take a while to build new files though when you add a lot of music. You have to just let it sit for a while. Then I find it is good to go.

I think to all the people who have 64gig sdcards, if you can implement it to work, all good and well and lucky you, as you know your Android devices well!

For those who can't, I will remind you that as per spec. the iBasso DX100 is compatible with 32gig cards as with all Android devices at the moment...................... I have tried to use, 64gig cards with my Android devices with little success, besides on the Motorola Xoom which is Honeycomb. I have seen people implement 64gig cards and say they work well providing you re Format it with FAT32(not sure here) and not transfer more than 4gig at a time, I never tried so didn't get to find out.

I have just put some Female music on a 16gig sdcard that I have lying around and have encountered no such problems as mentioned when using 64gig cards. Everything shows fine, it even shows in the internal memory under Music, sdcard, when I go into the file, I have the option to select show all music. When I select this all albums are shown with Album Art etc.

When companies, such as Samsung, LG, Motorola, Sony etc recommends that their Android devices are only compatible with 32gig sd cards, I would heed their word. To go bashing iBasso for not being able to use a 64 gig card properly is laughable to say the least!

My 2 cents

FWIW - I was using a 32gb card - Sandisk SDHC.
