*THE* Telarc recording of the 1812 Overtoure, now in 24/176 - Has anyone tried it on the DX100? I might just have to buy that thing...

The one thing I didn't like was the digital canons. I have a fantastic 1812 but that doesn't do much good as it isn't on my DX100 because it is on a CD and in storage and I can't remember who it is by. I do look forward to any impressions of the the Telarc recording though. I have a credit at HD so maybe I should download it.

The Livingston Taylor hirez music is very enjoyable. I haven't listened to him for a long time and enjoy the music and recording quality.

Lol I was looking at getting that just days ago. Mostly because it's good music and because of the warning. :p

Me too!

It's like when I bought this chilli just to see if it was really that vicious. It was.

The dynamics apparently present on that recording is what draws me in... I'll probably buy it when my Merlins show up, if I don't cave in sooner.

The problem with canons is that no transducer can capture the dynamic range of them even with the extended sample rate.  I feel the better reproduction is it the more this is heard.  I have the 1812 overture in high def and this is what I hear; the microphone collapsing so to speak. I know of no other way to put it.  On some you hear the mic a long way away and you can hear this sound reproduced better than when the mic is near the canons.  If is all in how it is recorded.

For those who might be interested in an audio generator utility to test your headphone response (or the response of your ears) the following is a great app that works well in the DX100 and is available as a free download from Google Play. It is very easy to use, even for non-geeks!

I find myself re-discovering my entire music collection with the DX100 and falling back in love with old tracks I've known for decades.

I'm back to listening to Modern Talking's "Geronimo's Cadillac" & "Brother Louie", & Europe's "Final Countdown"!! How much more worse could it be than that!!?

Can we ask Rockbox team to release a build version for DX100 That will be so amazing.
Rockbox on iBasso DX100 will be a really killer, so many options, settings etc..and am sure we will get a better battery life.
ADMIN-please open a poll where people can vote to have Rockbox on DX100.
Thank you!!!

I have both, I think Final countdown trumps breakfast... Having said that I think have "The Age of Plastic" somewhere here...

when you start listening to 'Two Little Boys by Rolf Harris' that's when you'll know your getting to the close to the cutting-edge of the DX100's sonic ability.... go on I dare ya

I believe I can make out the sound of of an engineer vomiting in the last verse, just to the left...

What a nice home system and that's quite the complement of the DX100.

I was just listening to Annie Lennox "No more I love you's".......

It is an experience on the DX100.....the soundstage just gets bigger and bigger, absolutely fantastic, not the best of recordings but the layers is continuously added as the song progresses and the imaging is rock solid.

I remember when this song was first released in the 90s, my home system of Krell KPS 20iL > Krell KSA 300 cabled by Yamamura Churchill M5000 i/c and speaker cables, Wilson Watt/Puppy 3/2 made a complete mess of this song!!!!
