And here I was going to wait for at least a few more months before getting into customs...but now I've got to get impressions for my new 4.As. This forum really is evil.

Good for you!
I feel your pain brother....I bought the 8.A ..AND...4.A this week. I really didn't need to eat this month anyway

As far as Heir not responding yet, remember it's still really early Saturday morning over there. Shoot Sunny an email to request a copy of your order form, then ship that and your impressions to Heir. If you have any questions regarding your build, email Wizard. They are all very helpful

Edit: and oh yeah, I think Sorensiim is to blame here... I think he is expecting a Christmas bonus from Fink and Heir

Here, here.  I have both the 8.A and 4.A and had never spent that much in one shot, until just recently (LA7000, Pico Slim, HiSoundAudio Studio) and I've been drinking more this year than ever before

Seriously, is there a HFA (head-fi anonymous) group where we can convene (in silence, devoid of any gear) and just detox??

Us Canucks ship our impressions down to the US, correct?

I think so, once I get an email from Heir I'll post the address on thread for you. I think bangkok kid is the fellow overseeing the the American side of things.

Man!  Something's come up, and I need to cancel my order.  I assume contact through email is good, or should I phone?

Bummer!

Email should do the trick, but you can shoot a PM to FullCircle and Bangkokkid as well, just to be sure.

Yeah it is a bummer. If they get shipped though, I''ll figure something out. I had a response earlier, and as I type this, I just got another. We''ll see.

Say by the way, maybe I'm trying to run when I should still be learning to walk but has anyone here tried any Heir IEM's using a balanced cable? I'm a bit of a fan of ALO's amps and considering the RX MKIII B is balanced and the new CLAS db is also balanced I was wondering if specing out a balanced cable in the foreseeable future for my new 4A would be worth it?

iPod 5G -> RSA SR-71B -> 4.A with silver-plated copper wire is one of my favorite ways to listen to the Heir 4.A.

I built my own headphone cable for the RSA's balanced output, so I can't be much help with sourcing one for your system. But I've been thinking that if the Magnus is 4 wires all the way to the TRS plug (I don't know if it is), you could probably find somebody to reterminate it with the square balanced connector that RSA and ALO use. But then you'll want a RSA female -> TRS male adaptor so you can continue using your Magnus with conventional setups. At that point you're back to square one... might as well find somebody to build you a custom cable for a balanced amp, and leave the Magnus the way it is.

And oh yeah... welcome to Club 4.A...

thegrobe you may have to eat as I read weight loss/gain can effect the shape of your ear canals!

Yes, you are correct! .......I had better go check out the cat food aisle.

In all seriousness, when I got into this I was fully planning to spend the $$ on customs eventually after trying a bunch of stuff out. Lucky for me, I have had such a excellent experience with the 3.Ai and 4.Ai universals, that it was a no-brainer decision to stick with Heir for my customs. I will  sell my 4.Ai off (after doing a comparison w/the 4.A - no point having both) I may keep the 3.Ai around if it's different enough than the 8.A. They are both bassy, hmmm we'll see.

Naahhh...that would never work.
Sorensiim would be out in the parking lot afterwards, lurking in the bushes  - wearing a hoodie or something and offering everybody "just a little taste"

Well, I bit on the sale and just finished placing an order for a new set of 4A's. I went with a nice dark mamba with matching face plates and sent them a nice treble clef picture. I'm hoping the artwork is doable on Heir's end. This is my very first ever CIEM and the most money I've ever spent on gear in one shot. As well as ordering custom artwork I also went for colored canals and upgraded to the magnus cable and chose prepaid freight for my shipping. All together I just blew 800 bones in under 5 minutes. I'm feeling a little woozy and in desperate need of a strong drink after dropping so many bones on one item.

Sorenslim, if you're reading this I want you to know I blame you completely for this temptation and expect you to send me a huge bottle of the strongest European whiskey you can find to my place for immediate consumption. Don't you dare send me any pork or I shall hunt you down and steal your 8A's. Tomorrow I'm going to start looking into booking an audiologist to get my impressions done. In the mean time What else do I have to do to get the ball rolling? I've sent payment and I got confirmation from paypal but nothing from Heir yet. Exactly what is the address I'm supposed to send these ear impressions to and shouldn't I have gotten at least a confirmation email from Heir with an order number so I can include it when shipping my impressions to Heir so they know which order the molds are for? Man I'm woozy right now. A whole 800 bones gone. My God, and I even bought a new Leckerton UHA-6A MKII a few weeks ago. I so need a strong drink right now.

I'm listening to the 4.A right now, with the Magnus cable and powered by the Leckerton. You will not be disappointed with this combo, I assure you.

P86, your reviews have been instrumental in guiding what I buy... thank you!

4.A, M-Stage, HUD-mini...

I hope the pairing of the M-Stage with the HUD-mini will be as good as your Leckerton!
