Are you on OSX? I set it up on Audio Midi Setup at 96hz. I'm using it on USB ATM.

Here's a recap on the D1 throughout all the OSes I've used.

On windows I got a popping sound which I fixed by unplugging it and plugging it back in.
On Ubuntu I had no problems what so ever.
On OS X I used to get that occasional skip in the music/video and I can't control the volume through the keyboard. Which pisses me off.

What is OSX? I have Microsoft HP PC. Im using itunes to play my music.

OS X is Mac. I never really had any problem like yours on windows though.

Hmm. I noticed when i dont use my D1 and use a aux cable from my speakers to my computer i dont here the stutter. Maybe its my D1

How are you connecting the D1 to your computer? Try connecting it directly to any of the USB-ports on the back of the computer. Not in any USB-hub or in the frontplanel USB on your computer. At last, try it on another computer.

I just bought a D1. Plugged it in to my old (1.6 ghz) laptop. Not a single problem and it sounds great right out of the box, driving my 7506's and CD3000's. Plenty of power, clarity and a nice sound stage. Can't wait to hear what it will sound like after burn in.

Anyone use their D1 for both powered speakers and an external headphone amp (not simultaneously)? Basically, I'm asking if anyone has a recommendation for an RCA switcher (that won't affect sound quality), so I can switch between sending the D1 RCA out to my A2/AS8 speaker setup during the evening and then out to my O2 headphone amp late at night. Right night I have to unplug and replug the RCA's on the back of the D1 to switch.

how about the AKG K702 and K550 ?

Don't have those - I would guess the tone of the D1 would go okay with the K702, never heard the K550.

I'm sure you could get an RCA splitter, one for left and one for right channel from Radioshack or Amazon.

Sorry if this was posted and I missed it. I did a quick search of this thread for the string "volume knob" and didn't find anything regarding my question. I just purchased a D1 and noticed that the volume knob has quite a bit of play in it. It functions correctly and is very quiet with no channel imbalance, but I can wiggle it side to side and up and down pretty easily. Without straining anything, I can probably get the end of the volume knob to move 1/16" of an inch left, right up, or down. I contacted audioengine support and they told me that some amount of play is normal. Since this thread seems to have the highest concentration of D1 users on the entire internet, I'm asking here to find out if you all are experiencing the same thing. D1 owners, please let me know if you have any side to side or up and down play in your volume knob. Wiggle it gently. I woudn't want anyone to do any damage to satisfy my curiousity.

Please note, that I am not posting this information to voice any discontent or dissatisfaction with audioengine. I love all of the audioengine products I have used, and my experiences with audioengine support have been absolutely satisfactory. In fact they have gone above and beyond for me in the past, and have already assured me that I have warranty coverage for this issue if it is a problem for me. However, if the behavior I've described above is normal, there is no sense in going through an exchange process. So I'm hoping to get a little bit of input from other users regarding this issue.

Thanks in advance for your help!
George
