Believe or not, I may actually get rid of that setup (the CLAS+SR-71B). But only after the DX100 arrives and I've had the chance to test between the two setups.

Even if I could justify the 800-plus dollars for the DX100, the low, low battery life is a dealbreaker. 8 hours is not going to cut it in this life or the next.

Not much but this pair has been getting a lot of use from me. I use it portably as I find them easy enough to slip into my large pockets. I'm seriously considering the C421 though.

I wonder how much of a market there is for cases designed to hold players and portable amps together...there are probably too many amps out there, but imagine silicon player and amp cases that clip together securely, thus eliminating the need for bands and providing protection for both...I can't imagine that it'd be too hard to design some type of universal clip that would come on all of the cases (perhaps it could be removable as well just in case the user didn't want to use an amp for whatever reason)...but the wide variety of amp sizes out there probably make this impossible unless it was all custom work...my gears are turning as you can probably tell. I just think it'd be a cool product were it feasible as a business model. Who wouldn't want their brand spanking new E17 + ipod protected and secured together with a clean-looking silicon case? Ringke makes nice stuff for the J3...they could pull this off I bet....off to dreamland...

How do you like the GoDap? I've been interested in one for my upcoming 4S.

Couldn't get it anywhere near me.Even if I did ,I had exact amount of money for 580's and E7.I think for a begginer this rig is quite good.

oh sure. E7 is fairly cheap these days and packs a DAC..and is a tank. and HFI 580. is undervalued.

Sorry for my noobness but you can use the USB port on the Clip+ as a line out? If yes, then I've found my next DAP.
