HiFiman HE-500 (HE as in High End) Proving to be an enjoyable experience in listening.

The Vali has too little power and too high output inpedance to drive the HE-500 to good potential. The headphones outputs of some 17 inch gaming notebooks can drive the HE-500 better comparing to the Vali. I would say don't waste your time.

Output impedance is not an issue as the HE-500 is a Planar, it's resistive not reactive. Power is marginal, maybe passable for some folks.

That depends on your tastes, some might say the opposite.
and some doesnt even choose shiit or audio GD for their he500....just saying...i see to much of those brands being adviced for the he500..as if they are the reference choice for the he500... Other brands provide good and sometimes better alternatives then what those brands provides...just saying...keep an open mind for other good sounding amps...it will surprise u what u will find

I was in the context of the post, Magni vs.Vali. There are many good amps available spanning a wide range of prices from reasonable to outrageous.

Chillax, man, it's just people offering their opinions (usually) based on experience.  A practice with which you're familiar

And we know you'll come along to offer up at least two alternatives

So yeah, I freakin' LOVE my Lyr with both my HFM cans

You forgot to mention a Blue Circle.
to be honest..at this moment i wont advice a blue circle amp..purely based on the price they are going..most he500 owners are shoppinh in a different price range..and thats okay.
.but a 337/339 with right tubes...yummy with a he500. And very affordable..same pricing as a lyr...just as an alternative..

And its more flexible in changing the sound because of the possibility to change the two pairs of tubes :D
I liked violectric v200 also..and yep..i liked the lyr also with globes (if i am not mistaken) in it...but i liked my 337 more WITH he500..
The lcd 2.2 i liked more on v200..rubbish sounding on the 337..but not so bad on lyr...never understood that to be honest...must be because the lyr is hybrid and the 337 was full tube? :xf_eek:

I paid 1k for my 337SE, 400 for my LYR. How is that the same price range?

Se is much more expensive then the regular version.....a lafigaro 339, latest model(with huge amount of upgrades compared to earlier models) is sold for around 700usd if i am not mistaken, the latest model 337 can be found for 590usd
So thats affordable in my book:)
Check this out...the 337 for 590usd...so thats cheap:)

And Shiit lyr2 costs 450usd...so same pricerange
But i also always said...the lyr is a good deal for its money...very good deal!

Some people, as myself, prefer the clean sound of SS. In such a case you might be barking up the wrong tree when it comes to the 337/339.
