Concise Multi-IEM Comparison (FINAL UPDATE March. 1st, 2013)

It was mainly a change in build quality right as there was problems, well i have the V2 and of all the IEMs i have tried, this and the FAD Adagio III are the only to were the air has moved and properly pounded my ears.

As far as I know VB v1 and v2 are two different sounding IEM. It is not about build quality issue as I have seen the v2 and it looks pretty much the same as v1.

Oh in that case that is rather strange and i did not know about that, have you heard both? Could you comment on differences.

No, I haven't listened to the v2, just saw a few discussions on the local forum.

Hi all.

I'm looking at replacing my recently broken Meelectronics CC51P.. I've been recommended the A161P but the cost is a little too steep for me (and i'm not sure i would like them).

I mainly listen to electronic dance music. I remember i was a little dissapointed by the sound from the CC51P but i can't recall what it was.

I prefer a detailed treble (is that right?) and overall clarity. I have a tendency to be really sensitive to bass heavy headphones/iem's.
I do enjoy the rumble from sub bass but i hate hearing the bass being overpowering.
I use a pair of Sennheiser 25-1 ii when mixing (and music listening at home) and i really enjoy the sound of those. I have another pair of Sennheiser (i believe it's pc360) that i mainly use for gaming. They are open and iirc uses the same drivers as the 555. I prefer these only for gaming and not for music listening.

Could you recommend something for me? Something around $100 and preferably available in the EU, as importing from the us/rest of the world would add taxes and such.

EDIT:
Oh i forgot, there needs to be a mic and be able to control music on an Iphone.

Thanks and great thread!

Etymotic hf3 would be the IEM that has most of what you are looking for, but unfortunately I don't know enough about the EU market to know its price there. If you are willing to settle for less, Etymotic MC3 might work as well. It is just not easy to find an IEM with everything you are asking for.

Just wondering if i like the FA Eterna v1 sound signature which iem should i look into upgrading?
Apart from the muddyness of the sound i quite like it.
Vocal presence is good while retaining a satisfying amount of bass. The High is soft which i believe its actually cohesive with its warm sound signature.

I think what i am looking for is a Mid oriented sound with bass that is at least equal as eterna

I am planning to try another iem that is sub $200.

Any Suggestions?

I have tried FXT90 which i find lacking in bass and quite exagerated in the high.

Yeah i know, it was a lot to ask for but i thought i would give it a shot ;p

Anyway, I got an email from Meelectronics saying they would replace my CC51P, or if i wanted to, get another pair for a discount.
What do you guys think? Depending on the discount i might be getting the A161P for a price more suitable for me, or should i aim for something else?

Like i stated earlier, i wasn't all that impressed by the CC51P, but i don't have as trained ears as most of the people here have.

Eterna's sound signature is kind of unique on its own so it is not easy to find another oen just like it. But if anything, I'll recommend RedGiant's A03 OSSICLE as the most direct upgrade of Eterna. The fit isn't great, especially if you have small ears. Other than that it is still an impressive IEM for the price.

If I were you, I'll take MEElec's offering.

hi Clieos

are there any alternatives to the Sony XBA-1 for similar price?

Good call. A151 indeed is a good alternative over XBA-1. A151 has bigger bass and a more upfront presenation while XBA-1 is more neutral (but still warmish) and laid back.

Anyway, if you can find it, TDK EB950 will be one of the best sub$100 I'll recommend.

it could be either a BA or a Dynamic.
i had the A151 before, but i didnt like the sound, something wasnt right with it. maybe it was a fit issue or a wrong unit?, dont know
thanks for both suggestions!
