thanks. but seems true that silicon contributes to the special sound signature. I think the kelvar cable too.

the kelvar cable is just for reinforcement.

Yup, just for added "defense"

Its the core, seems that ACS chosen that as the "best" materials for cables for their customs

Btw, heard that they also added a layer of "frictionless" material, so cool and feasible !

Thanks for the nice review ! It's probably not the most precise sound review around here, but it's more lifelike and really shows where ACS is going. It's definitely a different way to think about custom IEMs compared to other brands, but it also makes a lot of sense (kind of similar to Earsonics way of doing with few drivers but a lot of tuning).

I'm thinking about treating myself to a pair of ACS, and I have the feeling that we share a common taste for perfect isolation. If you don't mind I'd like to ask you a question : I'm trying to get a grip on the isolation provided by the ACS customs. How would you compare it to the ER4 for example ? According to your review, it seems on par or even stronger, is it right ?

^ I'm waiting for an answer on their part, but not specifically for information on a new model. I'll keep that in mind when I'll exchange mail with them though.

Got an answer from Andy, and I can only confirm the valuable info one can get from him. Very nice guy to talk to, ready to answer you the best he can. I almost feel bad for stealing his time

.

Also no concrete info, but seems like it's better to hold on if you're planning to buy a T1 soon.

Yes, he is great - helpful and loves to chat about his products.

By the way, he told me they were having contacts in Asia for distributors, and Korea could be one of the first new countries

The production with new drivers is supposed to begin next week. So better not pulling the trigger before then.

Hi Frenchbat - sorry I missed your posts mate.

Got an update from Andy last night as it happens - I'm going to get the 'new and improved' T1 in the next few weeks when I get the funds from the sale of the JH13 Pros I bought.

I asked him if they were like the T2 or the T1 and he replied that they provide the best of both and that "There's a great stage presence and they are incredibly vibrant".

So it sounds like the faster drivers move them closer to the kind of detail and speed (I suppose attack and decay) of the current market leading monitors in the acrylic domain, while retaining the comfort and isolation and durability benefits.

You asked what the isolation is like compared with the ER-4P. I used to own the ER-4P and found the foams were incredibly good at isolating, but also incredibly uncomfortable to wear for anything longer than an album's length, you know?

Wearing them you could sit on a train underneath the announcements speaker and sit across from a young mother with two crying toddlers and hear nothing but the music. I guess the published attenuation is 26db, but it was complete isolation.

The ACS products for me have been the same, but I guess that's due to having gotten a good set of impressions done by a real perfectionist - ACS insist on having someone on their list do them.

As a result, they have my inner ear mould on file, and if I want more monitors they can just pull out the mould and go from there.

The isolation is exactly the same. This morning I was sat on an old rattler of a local train with chatting commuters all around me, and not a sound other than my Gomez album.

The silicon seems to round out the sound a little if that makes sense - I guess it dulls the vibrations you get via an acrylic monitor to some extent, and having tried the JH13s this last week it's true you lose out on the tangible feel of the bass etc...

But the sound quality is right up there regardless, and the comfort is amazing. I wear them at times for 7 and 8 hour journeys and they feel like they're not there.

Hi Royhendo,

No problem for the post, people isn't giving enough attention to ACS here yet (but it's probably gonna change soon), so thread got kind of lost. Anyway I wrote to Andy and got pretty much all the answers I was looking for
wink.gif
. He got me the moment he told me about the new T1 (Charlie0904 -> the model is not supposed to change as far as I know, and price remains the same). He seems very enthusiastic about it, saying we should forget every thing he said before, regarding sound difference between T1 and T2.

Since your impressions are already there, I suppose you'll be the guinea pig. I still need to get my impressions done and to send it there (I'm not in the UK), so it's gonna take a bit of time for me. And I'm also sorting out some personalisation details with ACS.

Thank you for the description of isolation, it corroborates my gut feeling about that, as well as the specific exchange I got with Andy. And owning a pair of Etymotic I think I have quite a good idea of what you describe. Should be perfect. Your description of the feeling with hard acrylic is interesting, and it makes me wonder if vibrations really add something to the music reproduction itself. I'll do without anyway, have to make a trade-off for silicon comfort
