Audio-gd Roc Balanced HP Amp/Pre Amp
Jul 26, 2009 at 9:58 PM Post #16 of 85
Based on what moonboy said about the Phoenix, the Roc should probably be an adequate amp for the K1000, but it won't be the best amp for them. The K1000 is generally paired up with speaker amps.

How does he manage that if he has to sell the M^3 to cover the cost (or most of it) of the new amp ?

It's you, I'm afraid.

This is the way the inputs are usually laid out on a (balanced) amplifier.

Ah, I see. Maybe I was just being a tool. I had a look at some other balanced headphone amplifiers and they're all the same. Guess you learn something new every day.

I don't HAVE to sell the M3 to pay for it. I just will, as it will be obsolete, and I could use the cash. I will do a full review comparing both. I don't have Hd800s yet, but I have HD650s, K702s, DT770s, A700s, iGrados, ER4Ps.

I don't think it's that clear cut that the Roc will beat your M3+sigma11...

Well, it has a higher transistor count, it's balanced, and it doesn't use op amps. That's at least a possible indication of higher sound quality. If I'm not happy with it, it will hit the for-sale forum. If it's an obvious improvement over the M3 then the M3 will be sold right away. I do need to switch to a balanced DAC, who wants to trade me for a Havana with WE tube....

Thanks, you can charge it...

Won't be that easy to do a b22 for $900 diy'd let alone bought. Give in to your Chinese overlords. My roc ships mid August.
