Audio Techica ATH-CKS70 "Solid Bass" IEMs First Impression and Pics.

As far as I can tell AD700 and CKS70 are totally different sounds. The bass in the AD700 is very recessed in comparison but the soundstage and high notes are much better.
Since I've never tried Monster Turbines I can't tell you if this CKS70 make a better AD700 alternative so, lets wait for DTKZ review.

PS: I dont own an AD700, Ive just tried them a few times. I do own a cheap AD300, the sound quality is not as good (detail, separation, etc. AD700 highs are much better) but the sound style is similar.

So how is the review coming along DTKZ?

I'm currently taking pictures and writing up the comparisons. It'll be up by tomorrow. In addition, I just got a of IE8s, so they'll be included in the review.

Just wondering...
How are these if you try to wear them over-the-ear? The stem on these seems awfully thick/long, and idk if I could wear it like my NE-7m's.

Hi Baba booey, not sure if you ever got an answer to the above, however I got them a couple of days ago and I'm an 'over the ear' guy
smile_phones.gif
But I'm afraid I couldn't get them to work 'over the ears'

Problem seems to be that the way they're angled means that when you rotate them to go over the ears the large round sub-chamber 'rams' up against the 'front' part of my ear canal making it impossible to get tip deep enough into my ear to make a good seal. I've even tried swapping left and right units, which improves things slightly, but not enough. So I'm afraid for me, looks like a cable-down only option

Not sure if anyone else has a different experience, will check other threads. However, they do sound great, Atrio territory

Hope this helped

Got a bit of an update here, after some further trying and fiddling I have found that you can actually get them deep enough over the ears
redface.gif
However, it still feels a bit odd and isn't the most comfortable due to some pressure on outer ear area. Not sure if this is going to be understandable but here goes, it seems that you have to fit the whole unit into your outer ear area just outside your ear canal, with the little Audio Technica 'button' almost facing into your ear and resting/wedged against the rear part of your outer ear area, hope that's not too confusing

Anyhow, it's just a bit odd fitting it in there and as said isn't the most comfortable for me, particularly in my right ear, so while it can be done I still think cables-down option is likely to remain the best for CKS70s, unlike the Vicitor FX500s & Atrios which work easily either way. Anyway, hope I've helped a little

Not sure but I think the Head-Direct big bi-flanges would help those with fit issues with these phones.

Also, the CKS70 are down to $75 + $10 shipping from Accessory Jack. Correct me, but I believe $85 shipped is the cheapest price.

I'll have a look into those bi-flanges and I think you're quite correct, I got mine from Accessory Jack and I couldn't find them cheaper anywhere else

I find them to be wearable over the ear. for me the exchange between left and right worked

on the contrary i can't wear them cable-down, the microphonics are just horrible

which has more powerful bass the fx500 or the at cks70,
currently my fav iem is the ue superfi 5 eb> westone 3 and triplefi 10,,,IMO!
so im looking for an iem to outdo the superfi 5 eb kicking bass, if possible
currently considering atrio m5 and the at cks70, but if its less than the superfi 5 eb than im not interested, i do love those eb iem's
