[CONTENTEMBED=/t/420490/show-us-your-vintage-headphones/1650#post_12546457 layout=inline]You can thank the camera, Photoshop, and a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser for that impression... the second pair was absolutely trashed when I got it and has some serious damage.[/CONTENTEMBED]

The rubber gaskets that hold the cups on are rotted to hell and breaking, the right cup mesh had fallen off and the damping for that channel is missing, the cable was oxidized to hell, and several screws have been lost and replaced... I honestly think this was found crammed into the back of an outdoor storage unit or something. It's gonna take a lot of work to get it back up to snuff.

At least it's clean now. I'm eventually gonna give the ebay seller a piece of my mind for ripping me off. I can fix all the problems... but anyone who is not DIY-oriented would have had no way to use this headphone as it was. Absolutely inexcusable for the price he charged. $50 less got me the almost perfect pair you see next to it.

Did someone say Photoshop?

Well, Photoshop Express... you ******.

I do fancy a nice pair of army boots myself

You just peel the old pads off, carefully if you wanna keep them intact, get some double-sided adhesive sheet at the local craft store and use that to stick the new pads on.

Would those pads work for both Yamaha and Sansui?

They are about the same size, yes. Though, I think Beyer EDT1350-SL pads would work better on the Sansui. Other pads seem to compress too easily and you feel the cups behind them.

I wanted to try them with it myself but I had to sell it off before I ever got the chance...

Very nice headphones if you can get past the comfort, btw. Clean and flat sounding, definitely one of the better things I've owned over the years, though not super fast or open...

STAX SR5NB, I ran them back in 2011. Very competent performance and then I dropped them. Tape player still in residence.

Recently I made a collage of the photos I still had from my vintage phase.

Hey guys, I need some help with the Unipolar 2002 and HER2000, I just got mine in and noticed something wrong with the HER2000, the Loudspeaker-Headphone push-button seems to be broken but it doesn't feel like, oddly enough the gain buttons work which is peculiar as you would expect them to be broken as well.
I still can't test the System as my Speaker Amplifier is still in transit but learning that the button might be broken was kind of upsetting.

Here, it clearly it states that it's a release spring button and not just a switching push.

Also, if somehow when I test it and it doesn't work, is there any way I can determine what part of the system is broken, the Unipolar 2002 or HER2000?

Thanks.

DUDE, where the **** did you get that?? Holy crap.

Personally I'd try it before worrying about the functionality. If it doesn't work once the speaker amp comes in, maybe ask spritzer to take a look at it.

Found them on Ebay Kleinanzeigen.

You are right, I should wait and test them first. The previous owner bought them at a yard sale in Germany from an old Gentleman, he couldn't figure out the DIN connections and didn't chop the wires off. He had them sitting stationary for more than 10 years until he sold them to me but according to him they work fine, at least that's what the first owner assured him.

I have read that the HER2000 had a Manufacturing error where the springs failed quite easily, I tried to pry the housing but due the the Ultrasonic Welded chassis, it was very hard and almost impossible to take it apart as the bond seemed to be Solvent based and not a Thermoplastic weld.
Interesting you mention Spritzer, I saw him post that he never had any experience with Unipolars on a Russian forum but that was in 2005, I will contact him if needed.

Thanks.

Yeah, the Unipolars pop up quite frequently on ebay Germany, but prices have recently shot up by about 5-10 times what you could get them for 5 years ago.

That seems to be more and more the norm for decent vintage phones.
