HI: Why get something that is not as good or better than my pl-30. If I had to I could dig out my fx66 that I am about to mod.

Hey LTUCCI1924, you have stated that the PL30's in your opinion are better than $200 earbuds you have.

Could you please do a comparision, maybe some A-B testing or something and comaprehow the PL-30 compares in say bass, mids treble etc..

Also what do you mean by the 'FATE' buttons?
How hard is it to mod it with th bass buttons off?
Are they industrial glued on?

No point stating that they're better than $200 earbuds, which is a bold statement, without stating details!!!

I'm still a FOTM skeptic of these atm....

By fate moded the pl-30 I discovered that the bass buttons just fell off somehow. They don't seem to have any glue but are just pushed on. I had the Etymotic ER-4P a while back and like the pl-30 much better sound wise and way better comfort to boot. I also had a few other iem years ago but got ride of them all and just whent to full size headphones for better sound and ease of use. The pl-30 imo sound better than many of the full size headphone and are so very easy to use and much more convenant for me. I am very impressed with the pl-30 and if they hold up will use them as my only sound source.

I have been useing my pl-30 for a while now and they sound so very good but I am drawn to my fx66 because of thier great comfort. I moded the fx66 by taken off the nozel covers off for better high end more controled bass but the pl-30 sound so much better that it is hard not to use them. I am waiting any day now for the HD double flanges to see what they do to the sound and if they are comfortable. I am useing the skullcandy ink large flanges on the fx66 and they are so easy to use. This is nuts better sound or better comfort. LOL.

Seriously, if you put a guitar player on the left instead of the right, that "would screw up the music?" I really don't think that's a problem.

I dropped $51AU on these headphones today, off ebay from Hong Kong and can't wait to see (hear) what they sound like. I'm putting off forking out for some custom monitors in the next couple of weeks cuz I can't decide so I figured these would be an appropriate intermediate at a decent price and reasonable sound..

One question though, are they over-the-ear cables or do they run straight down? I'm not bothered either way, to be honest, just curious.

EDIT: Read three posts above, ignore me, it's my first day :p

to the current users, when you wear them, how much do these stick out of your ears? can anyone please post a picture of him/her wearing a pair?
i am asking this because i'll be using my new iems/earbuds when i ski. i cant wear phones that stick out too much since i'll be wearing hats over my ears.

I got the HD bi-flange tips today with the filters. The filters are just small screens. The tips sound great and give more bass with all the highs and mids. They are also comfortable. I can't put them in real far because my ears are sore from all the a/b stuff I have done. I got 2 pair of then so I put a set on my jvc fx66 also. I moded the fx66 by taken the carbord cover off the nozel and the small filters fit just right to cover the open holes but when I a/b the fx66 with the pl-30 the fx66 sounded no ware as clear and have a distant sound muffled if you will. I am just amazed at how fantastic the pl-30 sound and it is more noticeable when they are a/b against another iem. The HD bi-flanges cost 15.00 for 2 pair and are well worth the money. Thanks HD.

My $20 shipped Focalprice PL-30s Arrived today!

I will not get a chance for serious listening until this evening, but on a brief listen using the attached cushions, they sound very nice indeed.

I am quite certain they are genuine, but here are some photos. Those of you who got them on eBay or from Great-Sounds, please compare and let me know if I am mistaken:

Yep thats the same pack I got from great-sounds for 42.00 +10.00 shipping.
They look real and a great buy. Please post when you give them a good listen. I burned mine in for 48 hours and been useing them since but out of the box they sounded great. For 20.00 all members should have a pair. LOL

OK because they seem to be real from FocalPrice.com I just ordered another pair of pl-30. If you really like the pl-30 and paid 52.00 for them then why not get a pair for 20.00 shipped.
