Victor HP-FX500 Review: World's first Wood Canalphones

I want to order this one too. But my cx300 stopped working, because I didn't get sound from one side. I've had this with three pairs and one pair ep830. So I'm scared this will happen too with this earphone. Is there someone with this problem too and is there a solution?

Their boosted bass (as the major gripe) is enough to give me a bass headache...

The bass will calm down a bit with burn in but these are very bassy headphones. Personally, I love that about them, but then again I can't even listen to my super.fi 5 pros since they're so bass anemic.

So Duncan - less than one day in & probably too soon for a verdict, but what the heck

@nemmo - as much as possible, try to remove earphones using the body, or, if the earphone is properly stress relieved (the victor isn't - this only happens in the Westone earphones), it is iffy to take them out from the cable. fibres and strands of metal can easily be broken when pulling cables.

steviebee...

At the moment, still inconclusive... I'm waiting for burn in to happen, and then if that still doesn't clarify things enough, I will then look at sample variation, and beg / borrow / steal a second pair of FX500, seeing if they sound the same as the FX500 I now have, the FX1000 - or something completely different lol...

Hehe devilsadvocate... I see you like things bassy

That is one of the things I like about the HA-FX1000, that whilst it is bassy, it is nicely in check (doesn't over burden the rest of the music) - I am hoping that the HP-FX500 will eventually end up doing the same...

...I agree with you (or at least your signature) though - The JVCs, in whichever form (FX500 or FX1000) are - to my ears definite keepers

That's the one thing i couldnt stand about the bass on the FX500.... It over powered everything and i burned mine in for well over 300+hr's. Had to EQ them on both my A818 and U5. So if there is any change i will really raise n eyebrow.

well Townyj... In that case, my burn-in adventures with the FX500 could be very interesting

I can probably check this out sometime during the second week of August. I'm making a trip down to Tokyo, so I can compare my FX500 against the demo units they have in some stores.

I keep trying to access the seyo shop (SEYO-shop.com) website you guys mention here to order a pair of these but I keep getting this error message:

"Forbidden

You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

Does anyone face the same problem or am I typing the address in wrongly? I'm located in Singapore by the way.

woodsteel23...

Odd... Which country are you from? - Could it be something regarding embargos or otherwise? (I clicked the link in your post, and it went straight through)...

...tried going through a proxy server?

Other than that... welcome to Head-Fi

DTKZ - That sounds like an awesome plan - I cannot buy up the worlds supply of FX500... lol

Hi Duncan, thanks for the kind words!

I'm located in Singapore, which I suspect might be the reason why I cannot access the site.

Do you have any ideas how I might alternatively go to the webpage? I have no idea what a proxy site is to be honest.

Thanks!
