Are you a cable person?

They do look better, but on the other hand many of the higher end cables are not easily hidden so they better look good

It's a Telos Audio Golden Reference.

As for price, I reserve the right to remain silent and not incriminate myself.

Well, I'm not 100% sure it sounds better than other power cords, but I think it is better. I admit there's a possibility it could be placebo. If it is, it is some powerful placebo.

I use one on the RSA Raptor and another on the Chord DAC64 source.

Yes and No. I believe that cables can and often do make a difference, but not always.

I'm amazed that so many people for so many years have claimed to hear differences between cables but no serious test, under controlled conditions, never showed this to be real.
This reminds us how powerfull the human brain is to hide reality.

For the future, there is more work left in psychoacoustics than in hifi !

well, I don't know about high end cables.

but when I switched to the HD650 cable from the HD580 there was were differences maybe minor but it was audible. I think I am a cable guy to an extent I can't see a $1,000 cable sounding much better than lets say a $50-$100 and I would never spend more than probably $100 on a cable.

edit: I do not believe in power cables though that seems ridiculous to me as your only changing the cable from the plug to the device but what your forgetting is that the plug you plugged it into is using standard power cables.

Also yes and no. I simply choose to use cables of the same quality level as the rest of my components. I also prefer to use standard materials with the philosophy that exotic materials may change the sound of the components giving me an over-all presentation in my system that is something other than what I originally wanted.

...what may produce a better Sennheiser may also produce an inferior Grado.

Yes, I consider myself a cable guy because I personally experience differences different cable (configuration / material / quality) make on sound. But I do agree everything should have its proper share in the sonic chain. Spending disproportioned among of money of cable on the setup is just unwise, in my opinion. Proportion is the key word here.

So far I refrain myself from spending over US$1,000 on a single pair of cables - being it interconnect, or power cords or digital cables.

When it comes to cable, I think "you don't know what you don't know" applies. 3 years ago, I disclaimed openly what cable can do to sound, thinking my 20 year + experience in engineering field make myself "knowledgeable" enough to differentiate the technical "truth" and "lies", but now, having tried many, I know simply there is something I didn't know in the past.

And this bring to the fun part of cable experimenting - it is more an exploration - sometimes you end up with crap and disappointment, sometimes there are no difference that I can hear, but once in a while I found something so good that can excite me a long time, and open up my ears forever. Of course, no matter what the results are, your wallet will get thinner and thinner all the time

the cables i use are ofc with the proper guage for the footage in my hifi
but my video cables get a little pricey and the same for digital but i can
say i did not hear a difference but they look good.

As long as it lasts long and sounds good with some warmth and neutrality, I don't care that much about what I use. I am a real fan of silicone jacketed super flx cables, the more lax the cable the better.

QFT.
Placebo, that's like a cop-out for those that can't hear that there IS a difference.

I love my BlackMax interconnect, purchased to remove a ratshack potential weak link in my system. Pefect length, perfectly lovely. I'm not even trying to A/B it. For $95 it was logical addition to my system and the system in its entirety sounds great.

It doesn't define me though. I'm a baseball guy.

I am intrigued by something. I consider myself to be a none cable person. I have experience of high end cables although nothing as exotic as Nordust.

For me I see the motivations for people who do believe in cables to be:

1. They've spent money on it, you'd be almost mad to admit to spending money on something that you believed didn't do anything.

2. They believe they have heard differences, it's virtually impossible for a person to admit they have imagined something.

Now what I can't see is what cable people believe to be the motivations for someone who doesn't believe in cables. I can only speak for myself however the usual arguments of:

1. Bad hearing - I know I have very good hearing which has been tested recently.

2. Not hearing high end enough equipment - I have heard some pretty high end equipment and equiptment that other people say makes a difference (HD650 with Stefan Audio art cable).

So, in your opinion why would I be anti-cables?
