Same, except internals.

That isn't quite accurate. The D5000's cable is thicker and less prone to tangling. I had a D2000 and D5000 both in my house for a while.

So there may be a reason to go for the D5000 instead .....

As far as I understand it, SQ is similar for these two models. So the difference should basically be a cable that is better and less prone to tangling, and wood instead of plastic. Is that a fair summary?

Too bad D5000 costs almost twice as much as D2000

, but then again the wood does look quite nice

The D5000 is supposed to have better highs, and better overall SQ, according to reviewers here -- along with the nicer cable.
I am thinking about them myself, to go along with my D2000's (which I happen to love -- not-so-nice cord and all!).
After reading the reviews, I got the D2000 instead, because of my intent to probably get them turned into Darth Denons.
But, they really are great just stock right now.

Read, the cable is the same, same horrible cloth wrapping, just internals are different, and yes, it's a bit thicker which might make it less tangly, but tangly nonetheless. So it's like BAD-BAD on D2000 and bad-BAD on D5000.
Bottom line - they both beg for recabling, after which they should be pretty much equal SQ wise.

What did you cable them with?

I had some silver wire lying around, so I did up a cable with that. Now I just need the headphones to put it on

. They left customs this morning. I really, really hope that means they will be arriving today.

Ive been listening to the 2000s for about 3 weeks now and I still cant get over how good they sound. Just for curiosity's sake, has anyone listened to any other closed phones that have a similar sound signature to the Denons, but with better SQ... money no object.

Im talking about more detail, better bass, better everything overall... in short, like the Denons but a level up.

He already has a "Denon mods" section on his website, getting ready to offer various services, when he is satisfied with his Denon-tweaking.

EDIT: Ooops - Gaso beat me to it!

So, Audiocubes seems to be pushing these out faster now? You ordered on Monday, correct? When did they ship?
