You're crazy man lol, pull out the lp12 and have a long talk with the woman...

Had the talk with Lily, lol, she's standing behind me as I type and laughing.  I told her not to worry about the two damaged stylus on the V15 type V, just need to order a replacement, glad it wasn't the Dynavector XX (on the Micro Seiki) or Audio Technica ART7 (on the Linn)

Really want to buy a pair of HD650s but don't want to end up with a fake or second-hand can.

Has anyone ordered from the third party vendors on Amazon who are fulfilled by Amazon?

Are they all legit vendors or are some fake?

I'd pull the trigger at $400 or $420, but I'm suspicious given it's fixed at $499 everywhere else. I know it's been much cheaper on sales over time but I really would rather just get these and avoid finding out Sennheiser stopped making them and they got rare, so paying something in the 400s works for me.

Appreciate your insight!

There are plenty of Sennheiser IEM fakes but never heard of HD650 fakes. The closest I can think of is selling a HD650 headband with HD580 or HD600 drivers but again I see this as unlikely.

You're covered by Amazon anyway so I don't see a risk in buying from a third party.

Never heard of fake hd650s either. Plus, these go on sale pretty often. I wouldn't pay more than $350 if your in the US. (even though these, unlike a lot of headphones, are well worth their $500 msrp)

You can get them from Amazon directly for $400 if you buy the combo pack with a $100 Amazon.com gift card (total of $500+applicable taxes on $400) if you have something else you need to order

You can get them for $400 from Amazon themselves if you pay for an additional $100 Amazon gift card in the combo pack. Worked for me because I needed to order something else for $100.

I noticed that too although I couldn't seem to get the "sold by Amazon" one in my cart with that deal.

Helps to be able to get the real deal for ~400-ish though. I've been torn between these headphones and MDR-Z7s (which I can get new for ~400 too). Was getting hard to stomach paying more for the older HPs, a relief to know I don't have to pay full price if I wanted to buy right now outside of a sale.

I was really hoping, I would hop on this thread and see someone who wants to buy a HD650, if you don't mind buying used I have a one in Mint condition, I probably have less than 30 hours of listening time, there is NO sign of damage or wear on any parts of the headphones, and it comes with all original pacaking. Interested?

I have 100% confidence it's in amazing shape given the quality of this community, but given this is the first mid/high-end pair of HPs I want to buy for myself, I do really want them to be new :-\ Sorry man! Thank you for offering.

Nevermind, I just tried again and it does appear to be the Amazon.com version. I'll definitely do this because I know I'll spend another 100 dollars with them (on hi res blurays and SACDs probably!).

Are there any HD650 owners who've also tried the MDR-Z7s. I know they're different beasts but given I can get a killer deal on the latter, I'm finding myself repeatedly wondering how well they compare against one another. Don't want to make the wrong choice and end up getting the other later :-/

Just got my Cardas 4x24 cable from my old HD595s rigged up with some HD650 connectors. Sounds a bit clearer in the treble I think.

Cool, glad it got sorted out for you. I wish we were able to get them when they were $300 with a $200 GC like earlier this year, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

If you like Beck, give the Bluray 24/192 version of Sea Change a try. It sounds amazing through my budget Yamaha surround receiver, especially on stereo with the 650s. I can only imagine how good it would sound with a higher end headphone amp than the built in. The surround sound setting is quite nice if you have a 5.1 setup too.

Ray Samuels F-117 Nighthawk - superb MM/MC stage at a good price as well. I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the recommendation.  I have 2 pre-amps (SAE P102, Nakamichi CA-7) but they are too large for where I want to set up the TT so the F-117 looks like a good prospect.
