Just got my Toxic Cables SPC 6ft HD650 cable in the mail. Wow, I'm very impressed so far.

Could you be a little bit more specific? What exactly changes?

Thanks.

Just so everyone who reads this knows, these are my impressions, and cables, IMHO, do make a difference, and other people may disagree, which is fine. Just a disclaimer. So, my impressions are as follows...

The SPC HD650 cable from Toxic Cables is a fantastic sounding cable (so far) for the money. In a nutshell, it combines the warmth and lushness of copper with the speed and sparkle of silver. The SPC cable has a ever so slightly deeper and wider soundstage, tighter bass response with more depth extension, better instrumental separation, and more notably, a much more sparklier and extended treble presentation.

Pricing seems quite reasonable.  Wish I know about these before I got my Black Dragon & Q cables.

With my LCD-2's and all my monitoring headphones that I use for my Digital work station (I do sound engineering) the HD650's are just sitting on their nice wooden headphone stand gathering dust...

Compared to other cabling prices, these are quite the steal for both the build and the sonics that you get out of it.

Thank you for the link!
I've been trying to attempt a "scientific" approach based on frequency response of the can plus ears graphs (pic. below), but it seems to be alluding as every change seems to bring focus to one instrument but take away from another in the same time... (Godspeed You Black Emperor seems to be a great album for the balancing task due to its richness in white noise).

I'll give it to you.  Properly equalizing headphones is a tricky business.  Even after using the method described by PiccoloNameK I still find little "sharp spots" in my listening that have to be ironed out.

well... keep in mind that even the best equalizing isn't worth a crap when the mastering of the song was made by an idiot (and or on different equipment than yours)

Have you ever thought about trying a double blind test for the cable after some time you get used to its sound? I've always been curious about it.

Oh yeah, I realize it will never be "right" like being there but more like hearing what the technician's ears heard. But Audiophilia could be pretty OCD...

Double blind testing with headphone cables is pretty much impossible.
For good double blind testing you need very fast switching, because our audio memory is only accurate for a second or so. This is not possible with headphones without using a switchbox, but I don't see how on earth you'd be able to use a switchbox with headphones without physically taping it to your head. And even then the signal passes through the switchbox, meaning you first have to extensively prove the transparency of the switchbox.
Changing it with longer times in between the cables will most likely not produce very good results either, since it will make it very difficult to compare the probably small effects the cable has on the sound.

OK, so since people write about their impressions from the cable, how about make a test with switching the cables in 1 minute or so, then grading the quality?.. Surely the same impressions would be more than coincidental...

That would only work if the people are unfamiliar with the public opinions on the cable, and the price tag of the cable.
Otherwise these two factors will heavily bias your perception of sound quality.

I guess that my Aryan looks mean that I'm predisposed to be in team Sennheiser. First Grado SR80i which I sold off, then a shy transition with HD25-II into the velour hug of the HD650.

Overall I'm really pleased. Looks like the guy I bought them from forgot to include the fabled Sennheiser veil, because there isn't any. Even when underamped from the E10.

Now to get some respectable amplification...
