For variety of reasons, the headphone/earphone route doesn't work well for me...

B) Also, just to confirm, do I understand correctly that once you iMod an iPod you can't connect headphones or speakers directly to the iPod, you need to connect an amp to the iPod??

Thanks!

mark, the imod works as a great source whatever your listening preferences are. for portable listening i often used it with the virgin boomtube and it sounded pretty good out of it. connected to my home stereo, the imod sounded great as well. just think of it as a portable source...

The iMod is even a good source for a home set. Since I got my Shanling amp on monday I only used the iMod as source as it it beats my Pioneer CD Player in every aspect (apart from being loud).
I now know that I really need a good CD/SACD player.

I also consider that the iMod is worth every penny!!! Vinnie is a great guy, he managed everything for me, from purchasing a refurbished 4G iPod in Apple USA to modding it and sending it to Europe. Everything was done fine and fast. He answered all my questions (thet were not few). The product is exceptional for portable listening with a good amp + phones. Highly recommended!

aesthetically, there is no difference between a standard 4g ipod and an imod'd ipod. that's why you don't see any pics. now if your talking about the inside, it is a bit involved in cracking open an ipod just to take some pics.

There is nothing to see! It looks exactly like any other iPod. The changes are all on the INSIDE.

The iMod is the best $199 you'll ever spend on a portable rig, but mind you it has one downside. It raises the bar so far above any other portable music medium, that you'll never be contented with anything but it.

Hello,

I never used ipod before, but I did have an iRiver MP3 player with 40G and it died on me. So, I am thinking to get an ipod.

I am going to use my ipod just for MP3 music, and I do not have any intention to use it for photos or videos. I have two or three choices:

1. An Apple ipod Photo 60G Refurbished for $210.00.
2. Get the above and change it to iMod, and the total cost would be over $400.00
3. The new Apple ipod 80G for $350.00

I do not which way to go. In the quality of sound do you think there is a big difference between the old 60G and the new 80G?

In your openion which one would you recommend me to get and why?.

I deeply appreciate your kind help and thought on this.

Thanks.

Mo:)

moshken,
if you do not care about the extra amp you will have to carry with the iMod go for it. It is way better then the unmodified 5G when it comes to sound.

Thanks.
I have few qustions:
1. I will loose the warranty from Apple. What is the iMod warranty?
2. I just purchased "The New Xenos 0HA-RHP High Performance Mini Headphone Amplifier " from
http://www.aptecpro.com/Xenos-Prod/xenos-prod-list.html

Do you think this headphone amp works with the iMod?
3. How aout if I wan to use the iMod in the car vis FM transitter?
4. I was intending to buy a wireless remote for the ipod, would it work with the iMod?
5. How about the case for ipods, would it fit the iMod?
If you have anyother comments, please share since I have not use ipod before and I do not know much about it.

Thanks.

Mo:)
