Tea or Coffee ?

Coming from Eastern Europe, I used to drink only turkish coffee at first. Now the most popular over there is nescafe well mixed with sugar in equal quantities - make a very light yellow cream with just a few drops of water, then add boiling water and a little milk.

Here, seeing as turkish coffee is not readily available - even thogh I have the proper pot for making it and a decent grinder, I drink only espresso, or eventually derivatives. I cannot stand american coffee style at all - it's just colored water for me. Yuck.

As Vancouver is a big mix of races, and there are lots of people from India, I don't think it'll be hard to find some store with... whatever apheared mentioned. I might just go for it.

By the way, the very best espresso style coffee I've ever tasted was this year in Portugal. I mostly had it in "Cafe Nicola" chain, and not only it's far cheaper than Starbucks (100 escudos, that's what, 70-80 canadian cents), but it is much better too. Granted, that's a personal preference. There's at least one store in Vancouver that sells coffee like that - Delany's Coffee House on Denman Street. I learned about that from the Vancouver guidebook of all places

Oh, and apheared, how do you make the cardamom coffee? I've found that you mix their seeds with ground coffee but still what is the process of making the coffee itself? Turkish?

"I love coffee, I love tea,
I love the java jive and it loves me.
Coffee and Tea and the Java and me.
A cup-a cup-a cup-a cup-a-cup - ahhhh"

- Java Jive ala Manhatten Transfer

I drink 'em both.
Tea: unsweet, no lemon, with lemon, sweet, extra-sweet, "so sweet if you run out of syrup, you can pour it over your pancakes", raspberry, hot, cold, and old.

Coffee: black if I am not awake, sweet, extra sweet, "I like a little coffee in my sugar", cream, milk, convienece store cappachino (vanilla or irish cream flavored), starbucks iced mocca, joe muggs raspberry-mocha with whipped cream, cappio iced cappachino, haug n daus coffee ice cream.

The only requirement is that it is not decaf.

Favorite sodas:
Jolt Cola: All the sugar, twice the caffeine
Mt Dew: see above
Coke, Cherry Coke, Lemon Coke, Cherry-Vanilla Coke
Dr. Pepper, Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper

I'm not advocating it, but branching over to the subject of nicotine, the tobacco companies are soon to be offering "mints" made from crushed tobacco leaves that have all the nicotine of a smoke without the tar and canser causing agents. Oh, boy, can't wait to see that debate on the news every night. NOT!

Well, at least apheared had already reached day 9 of not smoking (cigratte pack held hostage?

) - I can hardly stand 90 minutes of not smoking... <sigh>

Greetings from Munich!

Manfred / lini

P.S.: My prefered way of making coffee is just throwing a well filled spoon of coffee into a mug, then filling it up to 2/3rd with boiling water, adding a decent amount of sugar and then filling up missing 1/3rd with milk. Then I just let the coffe powder sink - and that's it.

Oh, Apheared was/is trying to quit? I didn't know that... (I hope he succeeds, and if he can go 9 days, he has a relatively good chance, although a close friend of my family (who was around 75) took up smoking during World War Two, managed to stay off it for a few years (recently) and then relapsed, and after a year or two of smoking again he died. Not to put any pressure on you smokers or anything

)

In that case, the nicotine "gum" isn't really something for him...

coffee! triple espresso, and about 5 of em a day. tea is quite addictive too, I usually have a Rooibos (thats South African tea I believe) with my breakfast. Irish Coffee is great too, hot alcohol knocks you over the head tho

But if it ain't that, then I'm busy sinking my taste buds into a nice bottle of Thomas Kemper vanilla cream soda. Ooooo that stuff hits the spot.

Well damn, you're a primary canidiate for Turkish style, my friend! We'll get you to drop that stupid stupid concept of adding dairy to your coffee... it's not your fault, someone taught you this way, you didn't know...

Truthfully, just dumping the grounds in a cup and pouring water over em is the ONLY way to make coffee... all the other gadgets and concepts are just wankin' off. Not that I'm not into wankin' off with my coffee... cause I am!

But it's all just silly, right? We're here for caffeine extraction. While a vacpot is kinda neat to play with and does make a smooth cup, it's just silly when you want a cup o joe... got to be into wankin' rituals, ya see?

In the hopes of corrupting those of the instant, auto-drip, milk-drinkers... I'm putting up a site about real coffee. It's gonna be very rude and downright insulting. Tough. That's life.

Anyway, here's the initial draft... there's only a couple articles but I'll expand it as time goes by. (if you can't tell I'm tryin to quit smoking, you're deaf)
