    Review: Violectric V800 DAC

I’ve also been using the Violectric v200 and v800 combo for almost ten years now. It’s my desktop rig. Smooth and powerful.

Shanling M3X Portable Player - Our smallest Android Player

Thanks, Shanling. It took a few tries of long presses, yet my MX3 rebooted and is fine. However, I did break off the little LED diode. Sigh.

Shanling M3X Portable Player - Our smallest Android Player

I think it is because I literally pushed tiny piece covering that light into the DAP when trying to reset it (thinking it was a hard reset button).=

I think you are correct, thanks.

Shanling M3X Portable Player - Our smallest Android Player

I am not sure. I thought it was a hard reset button, so I used a little paper clip to depress it, and that just pushed it into the unit, and now I have a little pinhole. Seems like a tiny button that went to nowhere (which I am sure is not the case). Either way. the DAP now works.

Shanling M3X Portable Player - Our smallest Android Player

@ Shanling. Not sure, but I think my 1 month old MX3 just died. I was listening to it, powered it down, went to charge, and nothing. Now I try to turn it on, and nothing. I press and hold various buttons, nothing. Nothing happens at all. Any advice? I pushed a tiny button below the power knob...

Shanling M3X Portable Player - Our smallest Android Player

Hi, Shanling. Just want to say that your consistent presence on these boards, answering questions and such is super helpful, and was a factor in my purchase of this device. Love that kind of customer service! - steve

Shanling M3X Portable Player - Our smallest Android Player

Daniel, take it easy, please don't perpetuate the way folks view us NYers!....I also want to hear gapless on the Shanling, and am instead using Jet Audio which allows me to do that. Know that is not a solution for your Tidal needs. Here's hoping Shanling includes gapless playback in a future...

Shanling M3X Portable Player - Our smallest Android Player

Hi, Shanling, bobgitto, or any experts on using the native Shanling music app on this device. When playing albums (old school guy who does not do playlists), I notice when the next song begins, it kinda fades in. I cannot find any settings in the Shanling app to adjust this. Any suggestions...

That is the strongest endorsement of a case I have seen on these forums.

Noice, kinda like that blue case. I got the black one. Still enjoying the sound upgrade for what I would consider to be quite a modest price.

Good points on the construction and beauty, too. It is a nice, sturdy and well-designed DAP. I listened some more this am while exercising and like the improvement for what I would consider to be a relatively affordable price range in this market.

Shanling M3X Portable Player - Our smallest Android Player

Sounds like (pun) you really like the M3x compared to your previous set up. I used iPods ages ago (10+ years), and used to pair them with good portable headphone amps from ancient head-fi stalwarts (headamp, ray samuels), and then went to a single box DAP around 2010. I am pretty sure that these...

Shanling M3X Portable Player - Our smallest Android Player

Whoa, this is a significant difference from my old AK70mkii. Much more detail, speed, punch and even head space. It is more immediate, and yet I also feel it around my head, hear more stuff, and have a much better UI and responsive unit. I am listening to the same album I listened to this am...

Shanling M3X Portable Player - Our smallest Android Player

Thanks, holson. I just got it a few minutes ago, and am setting it up now. I will have some time this afternoon to check out after work, and will post some of those raw gut impressions. I am 59 in a week, so I guess it is all relative. I cannot believe this player can match your Lotoo Paw 6000...

Shanling M3X Portable Player - Our smallest Android Player

My M3x arrives today. I currently use an AKMK70II, and will post some observations. Caveat, I have to use a 2.5mm to 4.4mm adapter for my balanced IEM connection (JH-13 and JH-16), and I am old fart and not inclined to write up some eloquent exhaustive review.

    DAP Suggestions (<$700)

Thanks popzeus and ceiji. Will look into these. Glad to have options, and will have both the Cayin and the Sony WM1A on my list as well.

    DAP Suggestions (<$700)

Thanks, CJG888. I will consider that suggestion, yet ideally, I would prefer a new DAP to solve for lag, small screen size, etc. I also do not want two boxes anymore. I went through my ipod + amp phase of my portable audio life a while ago, and have graduated to a single box solution, and I my...

    DAP Suggestions (<$700)

Hi, I am a long time member and audio enthusiast and am interested in upgrading my DAP. I have had many, mostly in the $500 range, and would like to keep the cost around that budget (and would go to $700). I currently have an AK70mk2 and like it. It is now laggy and the screen is tiny, and I...

Hiby R6 Pro - serious upgrade to popular DAP

Wow, thanks max, supper time, Pete, pretardo for your advice and insights. Seems like some inconsistent views on EMI interference. I also appreciate the comments about using the DAP as a gym player. I keep my DAP in a fanny pack, so am not bothered by weight. In the old days, I even had 2...

Hiby R6 Pro - serious upgrade to popular DAP

Hi. I’m quite interested in this hiby r6 pro as an upgrade from my AK70 mkii. It is in my budget, reviews are super positive, and it seems to check all of the boxes I rate highly around sound quality and ease of use. However, I am concerned about the EMI interference given the way I use my DAP...

Considering upgrading 8 year old IEMs

I was nosing around here after some time, and wondering the same thing. I also have a pair of JH-16s and JH-13s, about 7 years old, and would be interested in some additional opinions about significant improvements from a more current model, from either JH themselves, or another manufacturer...
